What are the Benefits of Laser Soldering?

I'm an electrical engineer. It's strange that I didn't know about this technique until this video. Are there reasons why this isn't more widespread ?

Thank you for your comment! Laser soldering is widely used in industries that demand high quality and reliability requirements, such as the automotive industry. On the other hand, soldering is completed in the reflow or wave soldering process for home appliances. Also, for high-mix low-volume products, human operators are less expensive than automated machines.
