Another option in finding a dropout is a machine shop. We have a small one here, but the guy that owns the shop is incredible and truly makes anything from big equipment parts to tractor parts that are no longer made. It may cost a bit more, but having a frame that hangs on the wall is even more expensive. Just a thought....

Great idea! I need to find such a guy. Fortunately, I ride steel frames. I won’t ever need to source hanger … ever 😂

Thank you for this great video! Wanna ask a simple stupid question. What other parts should the hanger be compatible with? Is it just the frame?

I’m not sure what you’re asking Jingbo. Please ask me again in a different way

You’re actually working on my bike model in this video. I can’t fit my new 105RD700 derailleur on the BMC hanger. I was going to use an extender, thoughts? It might also make it weaker so in a crash the extender would fail before the frame. Thank you

I don’t understand why you can’t fit an RD on the hanger.

@@SeeYouUpTheRoad I realize now it’s because the B-link is missing from my RD7000 derailleur. I’m ordering a derailleur extender hoping it’ll replace the D-link because I can’t find this actual part for sale anywhere.

If I can't find a replacement I will fangle one...I have a file somewhere.
@SeeYouUpTheRoad6 ай бұрын
it doesn't work that way! Hangers are very specific to frame you can't just take a file to them. Thanks for watching please consider subscribing

This is a really irritating problem. I feel that bike makers are ripping off cyclists by not making hangers easier to get hold of. I avoid the problem by fitting a derailleur cage. Get a decent one and it will protect the whole mechanism. Should be a standard fitting.
@SeeYouUpTheRoad Жыл бұрын
I feel your frustration, John! There are literally hundreds upon hundreds of rear derailleur hangers. It’s impossible for me to carry not even 10% of what’s available out there. A derailleur cage sounds like a great idea. I see them a lot on eBikes.
