"Being human makes you uniquely create in the world". Fantastic, what a great starting point for a journey through these multiple subjects.

I am currently in a liberal arts course and I was finding it very difficult to understand what humanities are based on the information that my professor provided. Your explanation delved so much deeper than anything that they have provided in my course thus far. Thank you so much for posting this publicly! You are a wonderful teacher.

Originally, the Humanities were ALL subjects dealing with the Trivium and the Quadrivium. There were no Social Sciences. You started with Latin and English Grammar,History,Philosophy and Rhetoric for 4 years. You also took basic Greek and Elementary Mathematics. Aft.er the 4 year period would come a 3 year period of Math, Physics (Chem.and Biol included), and Music. Then you would begin your training in Theology as a lifelong pursuit of study for learning's sake.

It does cover a lot. My question is why does it, in your terms, bring it to god?

Are the disciplines under humanities science? If it is, what makes it scientific?

It isn't scientific...but it can assist science. Philosophy is still an important part of human thinking.... critical thinking skills. I assume a science communicator would do well studying the humanities....the history of science and why certain humanities helped scientists in thinking differently. There is much to absorb....I also think the study of humanities could spawn great journalists, politicians or those involved in politics, the study of religion, cultures.... The study of literature and the behavior of humans....

Personally your explanation turned humanities into a religious state.
