The game against Colorado will be intense, given the Avs blew out the Caps just a few weeks ago and that still has to be rather fresh in the minds of the Caps players and I’d definitely expect this to be a close game on Tuesday.

If I was management in The Leafs Organisation, I would not make any moves. One player is not going to make this team get by the first round. They have had a goal tending issue for 50 years. At best, Samsonov and Jones are good backups to Woll. So if I was making any moves, it would be Samsonov for Tasev and Hanavin.,and a bucket of used pucks.

I find the obvious is sometimes overlooked. Because of the stupidity of Shanahan and Dubas, combined with the greed of the core 4, they are getting what they deserve. No secondary scoring, good dmen and goaltending. So because this rotten spoiled bunch wanted every damn cent they might not even make the playoffs! And will get worse next year because you damn well know Shanahan, who should have been fired THREE YEARS AGO will give MM whatever the hell he wants, thus cementing an already overpaid core 4 with ZERO rest of the team solidifying no playoffs or first round exists for the remainder of this core.

@@AD-dt7nf He most certainly is if he claims that their 1st round pick will fetch them Tanev and Hanifin/Markstrom 💀 I would not be shocked to see Tanev on his own fetch a 1st+ - especially considering that Montreal acquired a 1st, 4th, and prospect for Chiarot, who is a comparable but arguably a less valuable player than Tanev. Elliotte’s take looks much worse when you consider the fact that Toronto would have to ship bad contracts the other way and/or require salary retention on Calgary’s behalf, which alone would require additional assets from Toronto’s end. So, no, a 1st round pick (in the 20-24 range, realistically) is nowhere near enough for Calgary to trade away Tanev and Hanifin/Markstrom - both players who could individually fetch a sizeable return - while also retaining salary on their outgoing players and/or taking on Toronto’s bad contracts. Elliotte attempting to claim that Toronto’s 1st round pick somehow carries that much value - or the corollary argument that Tanev, Hanifin, and Markstrom carry little value - simply sets unrealistic standards from the Leafs’ fan base on management that it cannot and will not be able to meet.

@@MES1331 Right; however, the only asset of positive value would be the 1st round pick, given that Toronto has little other valuable draft capital and is not willing to trade either of its two promising youngsters in Minten or Cowan. The rest of the package would be bad contracts - a deal no formidable NHL GM would accept for Tanev and Hanifin/Markstrom. Use some logic buddy!

The NHL will NEVER return to Arizona if the Coyotes leave. The is not a single person on Earth who would pay an BILLION DOLLAR expansion fee to put a team into Arizona.... ever ever again. The NHL is considered a circus in Arizona, and we can put a huge amount of blame on Gary. He allowed the NHL to look like a total bush league for decades in Arizona. He allowed it to look like a joke and nobody there takes it seriously any more. They can barely "sell out" there tiny 4500 seat arena for a reason.

If you are interested read the book called "The Instigator" it outlines Bettman's entire history with the NHL. The Arizona franchise has been a great benefit to the owners who sign his cheque. Fun fact: He makes what a fifty goal man does.
