I learned HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and basic PHP and I used to build my site from scratch with the above languages. But now, I use WordPress strictly because it is faster and easier to get things running. So, I officially call myself a WordPress developer.

@@Kreepykrap92 They do because in some of the themes and plugins functionality is limited so sometime we have to use codes from CSS to design

@@Hsa008 quite literally like the uncle that the young guys never had. Or in my case, a true friend who is willing to impart his experience. If you watch his channel for an extended period of time you will realize how important his insights are ... take for example his advice on algorithms and data structures. If one strictly relied on freecodecamp or like, they would be stuck in that for months. Just little bits of wisdom but very valuable for newcomers. His video explaining why he did not want to work for Google of Facebook ... totally sank in ... and I realized ... that's it ... that is what I wanted to do all the way ... my own business ... SO ... no need to get tangled up in interview question problem solving. Gold Dust.

I have a friend who sells basic websites from WP themes on Fiverr. He charges $50 for a mobile-responsive 4-page site with images, outbound links, internal links, call to action, slider on homepage, basic Yoast SEO, security plugin, speed optimization and even some content! He uses only the native WP builder Gutenberg + Qubely. He knows nothing about PHP, CSS or HTML, no coding skills at all. He makes over $2,000 per month.

Except for HTML, CSS, Javascript and PHP I would add the architecture and file structure of WP itself and the most common WordPress functions. In addition I also recommend you learn one theme or/and a site-builder.

Some people don't want to do anything. Most people I would say aren't brave enough to venture into building their own website. It's daunting for someone with no experience no matter how "easy" these new systems make it seem.
