It’s sad that some people can’t just accept the fact that black women can have healthy long hair.😞 Also even worse when these same people are black themselves and saying this crap. #Pray

Isa IsaLee Yep. I black with African features all day but because im natural and have "high yellow" skin, people think my sisters and I are mixed. I've even heard of black girls with a skin tone as dark as Lupita getting asked that simply because they had long hair. These stereotypes.

But ladies let’s be real, aren’t we all (black Americans) technically mixed?? 70% African and 30% something else, Im sorry, but that sounds mixed to me Lol. You may not have a parent of a different race, but technically and DNA wise, you are MIXED. Why do black people hate to accept this?
@Randomname824
@Randomname824 6 жыл бұрын
silkiilocks Or why is it so many Black people are quick to declare “being mixed” as if it some prestigious, elitist group? I’m sure every person in this world can declare being “mixed”, but is it really necessary to pinpoint that 13% of this, or 3.2% of that? I’m more interested in why many Black people feel as though being “mixed” garners some sort of importance as if being Black isn’t enough. 🤷🏽‍♀️
@silkiilocks
@silkiilocks 6 жыл бұрын
Marchers Clark the issue for me is not whether people feel being just black isn’t enough, that’s something people have to work out within themselves. I’m just talking simple facts and the fact is that most of are not 100% African so why get upset when someone asks if you’re mixed when technically and factually you are. That is the point I’m trying to make.
@ameliawatkins2201
@ameliawatkins2201 6 жыл бұрын
Lets be honest. The reasons they get the "Are you mixed?" question is because they are PRETTY and have all that hair. People don't believe black women can be beautiful being MOSTLY black. They also fit into a trend today of men liking "exotic" or "foreign" women. Im not trying to be offensive by saying they look exotic. Im just explaining why they get that question. They don't fit the racist stereotypical look of black women. They are not overweight, they have real long hair, and they aren't ugly by a long shot. Its sad that people cant believe black girls, especially African descendants of West Africa can be beautiful. They prove those notions wrong though.
@miriamhobbs1544
@miriamhobbs1544 6 жыл бұрын
Amelia Watkins Hmmm? 🤔 So racists usually see us as overweight and unattractive? I don't believe that for a second! They might be ignorant, but they ain't blind! And sadly, the MAJORITY of the people who assume the twins are mixed are BLACK people, not racist white people.
@ameliawatkins2201
@ameliawatkins2201 6 жыл бұрын
Miriam Hobbs Sadly I've spoken to racist and they do believe much of that. So many believe we all wear fake hair because we cant grow our own. So yes its ignorance as well. However, many still see us as the least attractive women. It is not as prominent today as it once was though. Black women's beauty is not being recognized but our womanhood and beauty has been attacked for centuries. In this way we kind of have it worse then black men.

with your logic every black person in America is mixed because they all have on average abut 20% European descent
@KadieBlue
@KadieBlue 5 жыл бұрын
Most black Americans aren't 20% European. That's an exaggeration. The correct number is 12%. You don't have to be 50/50 in order to be mixed. 20 percent non-African DNA is significant. And it can make a difference in your phenotype, as is evident in the glamtwinz. West Africans typically have type 4 hair. Type 3 hair is extremely rare. You mostly see it in East Africans, specifically the Ethiopians and Somalians.

LoliceMe I disagree
@LoliceMe
@LoliceMe 6 жыл бұрын
How? If you look it up, you will see, 23andMe has a bigger reference population for Native Americans. It has a bigger reference population for everyone. And you know what? AncestryDNA doesn't even have Southeast Asians in their database. None. They also don't use samples from East Africa either. So, you see these videos with all these Somali and Ethiopians using AncestryDNA? Yeah, they're getting proxies. AncestryDNA can't process their DNA because they don't have samples for the African DNA of Horn of African people and Nilo-Saharans. They are getting proxies- the next best thing, the closest things they can find. And it's misleading. 23andMe actually uses samples from Horn of Africans and Nilo-Saharan people. Same with Southeast Asians. Southeast Asians show up as Southeast Asian on 23andMe because they use Southeast Asian samples as apart of their reference population. AncestryDNA doesn't, so on AncestryDNA, Southeast Asian shows up as East Asian, South Asian, and Polynesian. People take these tests, but don't do any research on them and how they work. That's how they stay confused.

ItspronouncedJulia You are absolutely correct. Due to slavery most African-American people have European blood. It's a bit unusual to find an African-American person who doesn't have white in them.

Most Latin Americans have Native American admixture. Dominicans average around 5% Native American, Puerto Ricans around 10-20% Native American, Mexicans around 40-50% Native American, Guatemalans around 90% Native American. There are also people who are 100% Native American as well like Mayans in Guatemala, etc. African Americans are around 0-3% Native American; but if they're from Oklahoma, they are likely to have more because they are more likely to descend from the African American people that were held as slaves by the Native American tribes and taken to Oklahoma with them during the Trail of Tears in the 1830s. One African American woman whose ancestors were owned by a Choctaw man who took them to Oklahoma with him from Alabama, was 9% Native American.

ItspronouncedJulia I had a big argument with my father who calms that he is about 16% Native American and that my sisters and I may be about 10%. I said dad we are more than likely black and white period. The only one in our home that may be truly mixed is our mother. My mother is a biracial woman from Canada with white grandparents. My father loves being light skinned with "East African" features. He thinks because we are all high yellow we are mixed. No. He even had the nerve to tell me his family weren't slaves. I said dad you are an American black man born from black parents who come from America. You have an european last name. You are a descendant of west Africa and your ancestors were slaves. My father cussed me out because I said all of this. He insist that we are Native American and white and only half black. Sigh.

I love watching these kinds of videos so I was excited to see that yall did it. I just received my results back from Ancestry DNA two weeks ago and found out that I am literally everything. People have been asking since birth what am I and when I'd say black, they tried to argue like yeah but what else because you can't be all black. An Asian guy in the nail salon asked if I was part Asian, Hispanics see me and speak Spanish to me, a Middle Eastern guy asked if I was Native American. The joke of my family is I had to be Asian somewhere and I ended up being 2% lol. It was really cool to find out everything I am though, but I wish it could tell me what comes from which parent. It sounds like 23 & Me gives a lot more information beyond ethnicity so I'd love to take that test too.

I did the Ancestry DNA test. According to it, I’m 81% Sub-Saharan African, 17% European and 2% South Asian. Pretty much....I’m black and I’m black and I’m black. Lol PS: I still get you two mixed up, and I’ve been watching you for 4 years.

I just wanted to say that thanks to your video my twin sister and I found out that we were IDENTICAL TWINS! When I got my results back from 23andMe I could only see DNA segments that were "completely identical," but I couldn't see the "predicted relationship" with my sister. After a couple months, I came across your video and realized I didn't see the same things as you guys could see. I found out there were both some things we had to mutually accept to see this relationship. She wasn't home that day so I broke into her computer and account and mutually accepted things so we could both see the predicted relationship 😂 Our entire lives we had been told that we were FRATERNAL and NOT IDENTICAL Thanks a bunch, this changed my life!

Starr Vance Amelia Watkins i think because %100 native west africans have a naturally kinky hair type. The looser texture doesn’t come in until you mix the genes with something from elsewhere. The kinky hair texture is so unique and beautiful and should be praised not shamed

How are you going to say people "think" they're mixed when their DNA test clearly proves that they ARE mixed. Theyidentify as black but they, like most AA are MIXED RACE. If you put 3/4 coffee and 1/4 milk in a cup it's STILL black coffee or is it MIXED with milk? Now in Africa, most populations are PURE black coffee, no milk or cream added.

I think this just speak to how society looks at black women. It’s unfortunate that people see beautiful women wearing their hair in its natural state so that equates to they can’t be black or African American. They have to be mixed with another ethnic group. #blackwomenarebeautiful

@LoliceMe
@LoliceMe 6 жыл бұрын
You can get health reports right now with promethease.com You can use your raw DNA data from AncestryDNA and upload it there to get your health reports. They have better health reports than 23andMe and it's only for $5 dollars. 23andMe will charge you $100 dollars extra for theirs and they don't even go into as much detail as Promethease does. Don't buy health reports from 23andMe. Save yourself the money. The ancestry report is great (theirs is the most accurate), but don't get the ancestry+health kit, just get the ancestry kit with them.

Richard Myles theres a girl who got 98% East African, and she had long curly hair. Hair texture varies across Africa. Think about it, East Africans who are mostly African have curly-wavy hair on average. Yet biracial Americans may have kinkier hair on average compared to them. It's really about what part of Africa youre from and talking about. African people have great genetic diversity
@richardmyles8237
@richardmyles8237 6 жыл бұрын
LOL...are you serious? There is no way you can say the average...unless you assessed ever single biracial person on the planet. You can say some...but not "mostly, average" etc...because you have no data to support that. One thing I do know, East Africans are not the same as black subsaharan for the most part due to the long history of mixing in those regions of africa. Geography does not always define DNA compositions and haplagroups. East Africans have a LONG history of being mixed with Arabs. So, then you have mixed east africans marrying and procreating with others who have a similar mixed background creating multigenerational mixed offspring(which genes do not expire).They are not the same as Lapita, Akon, Alec Weck which are black subsahran. North Africans are closer to souther europeans in physical features and haplagroups. South Africans are white, black, and "coloreds" which are usually multigenerational mixed race people(meaning mixed people procreating with other mixed people), indians(from india) etc. Example:SHOW ME DNA PROOF that a light skinned person can be black with soft curly hair and aquiline features(DO NOT INCLUDE BLEACHERS, WAAREDENBURGE SYNDROME and ALBINISM). No...it is called EDUCATION...black people DO NOT look like mixed people.... I rely on empirical research...not some ramblings on social media. Black Subsaharan blacks with no admixture are NOT light skinned people NOR do they have our features. EAST Africans are a completely different situation....they are closer to the middle east countries...and guess what? They have a LONG history of being mixed with Arabians which explains their mixed race features....and guess what? It also shows up in their DNA. Examples... Watch these DNA results....... EAST AFRICANS ANCESTRY DNA RESULTS Ethiopian, Somalians, and Eritreans are mixed race Africans...their DNA/cranial bone structure is closer to European according to anthropologists than black subsaharan people. kzbin.info/www/bejne/apKai2uHaZiWnNk Ethiopian DNA results (mixed) kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zp3WfH6ciMaVqrc Ethiopian DNA results (mixed) kzbin.info/www/bejne/kITbfpmHps2LprM Somalian DNA results..
