That quite a transformation. You can’t judge a book by its cover, or wood I guess. 😊

When you sand up to 1000 grit you end up burnishing the wood... The pores clog and the oil mostly sits on the surface. If you stop at a lower grit the oil will get deeper.

@@BadPandaWoodworks yes its definitely burnished it’s like a mirror. Certainly not the normal way to sand a cutting board, but I wanted to see the effect and how it would look. it’s sitting next to a 240 grit cutting board in the house so I can do a long-term results of drying using the walrus oil comparison as well. Will see.
