Happy late birthday man. It’s nice to hear from influencers that specialize in different fields (especially drumming). A lot of what you said is very relatable to me and I liked hearing it out loud. Thank you again and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

As a 21 year old with 18 years experience - start saving now. Open a tax deductible investment account, and even if you only manage to put in a few dollars here and there - just do it. Always pay yourself first. Do you need the new jeans, shoes, PS5? Keep it simple, buy blue chip funds and set the dividends to reinvest. Free money. Don’t touch it :) Your 40 year old self is waiting patiently to thank you.

Great video & thanks for sharing @Sean Parra Feel like this video was almost a continuation from the "my first year out of highschool" video you made. Really enjoy these kinds of videos, as they are just so raw and unapologetically you. Appreciate the vulnerability and authenticity you lead with in how you express yourself in these kind of videos. It's interesting how the path to us feeling motivated and inspired is just so counterintuitive. Some people think they thrive only once they have motivation or inspiration, which like you said "that's kind of bs". The reality is that action proceeds inspiration, behavior drives motivation, and behavior comes from our identity. Confidence follows success. The trick is in recognizing when we have had an experience or moment of success. We have to actually deposit that success internally to accrue the identity capital from which we then can draw self-confidence from. When you can deposit that investment in your future self, your current self inherently feels to be of more value. And so it makes sense that we can't withdraw from ourselves motivation (a byproduct of self-confidence), if we never deposited anything. That's just the reality and unfortunately it's so easy to discount our "small" wins when we overly focus on all the ways in which we are falling short of our own expectations. But again, it's really all about our perspective in how we frame each step we take in our pursuit. Like the saying goes "change the way you look at things, and the things you look at change". As soon as we look for the ways in which we have actually taken a step in the direction of our goals, and we internalize and appreciate that progress (no matter how small), it'll just have that effect of lighting that fire within us when we really need it. By changing our perspective, we can increase our self-belief that we both have "the will" and have found maybe not "the way", but at least "a way" to move forward. And because we see that we have done it once, we can have confidence that we'll find a way to do it again & take another step closer to our goal. Anyway man, it's been a pleasure to watch how far you've come already. I'm really liking these kind of videos & am excited to see how you can figure things out and take things to a new level for yourself. The most important and impactful skill sets that you can develop are those which are rooted in yourself. Those are the skill sets that are 100% transferable to any situation you put yourself in or that is thrown in front of you. And of course you are always you. In this present moment, but also in the future. That future you on the other side of your goal is as much you as you are in this moment. A crazy thought, but it's true. The personal state we ultimately get to is at its core the product of the same person we've been all along. We have it within us the whole time. The future version of us is actually a more true version of us than the current version of us is. Life just happens in order to refine and expose that truth of us to ourselves through the realization of our goals later down the road. Sure from the present looking forward that road doesn't look easy, but that's because it isn't easy. There's a reason greatness is not average. There are legitimate obstacles and barriers that will always be in the way like self-doubt, insecurity, lack of motivation, and just other influences around you constantly attacking your path to greatness. But that's what it's all about. Putting ourselves to the test. Acknowledging the obstacles in front of us and finding the will and a way to overcome them. With no handouts, no excuses, no shortcuts. Just clear vision, pure effort, strong habits, relentless consistency, real results. Just like in drumming you've got to do the work, you've got to put the reps in. It requires a lot of you, but what's more worth it than an investment in yourself. There's no accolade or achievement that is more valuable than yourself, because neither things can be manifested without you being involved in it. It's all about how you look at it. If you frame your present identity from the perspective of your future self, you can stop yourself from overly identifying with a version of yourself that is based on any of your prior shortcomings. Just being who you are (yet not overly dwelling on it) and fixating your present effort on your future aspirations while sprinkling in your appreciation for the steps you have taken in the right direction will serve you well. Both the "why" (your purpose) & the "how" (the steps you need to take) comes from your identity, the "who". Get your focus on the identity you're building/pursuing & the rest just flows from there. Through your videos I can see you're 100% bought in on you, and so I have full confidence you're going to be successful. Best of luck to you bro. It's only a matter of "when" not "if".
