My personal theory is that the Cold War never went hot in Europe because the memory of both WWI and WWII were still in living memory. People blame and shame Neville Chamberlain but he'd just seen the carnage of The Great War and didn't want to risk another. As the WWII generation passes into history we must never forget what war makes possible. Otherwise we have to learn the lessons of history anew. Most Americans have never seen a battlefield. The closest some have gotten is a natural disaster. The same randomness of who lives, who dies, what remains standing. Putin needs to be reminded those who try to make history often end up being the example of what not to do.

The Royal Navy could deafat the Russian Navy because the Russian Navy would not be able to fire enough anti-ship missiles at once against the Royal Navy, could not effectivley use air power against the Royal Navy and would have its noisy submarines destroyed rather easilly. The Russian Navy has one Kuznetsov-class aircraft carrier/aircraft carrying curuiser (the cruiser designation is used to exploit a loophole in international law) which is routinely out of action due to maintenance issues and has famously broken down, while “intimidatingly” passing through the English Chanel; it is currently undergoing “refit”. Although it carries up to 45 aircraft (33 fighters and 12 helicopters) they are inferior to the F35Bs that HMS Queen Elizabeth will be using and are intended to protect assets rather than provide power projection capability. The Russian Navy has one Kirov-class battlecruiser with a second “in refit”. This is a capable class with 20 anti-ship missils, substatill air defence, the abillity to carry three helicoptors and sonar combined with anti-submarine rockets. It also has a lot of navel guns and would win a gun battle with any ship in the Royal Navy. However, it does not have enough anti-ship missiles to penertate the air defences of Royal Navy warships and, as the Astute class submarine is very quite, it may still be vunreble to the Royal Navy’s submarine fleet. The Russian Navy also has three Slava class curisers which have simular advatages and disadvatages to the Kirov-class battlecruiser but are just not as good. The Russian Navy operates a substantial number of destroyers, frigates and corvettes. While some are quite new a lot are old and the Russian Navy would struggle to operate all of them away from their costline beacues of limmitations on logilistical vessiles. The Russian Navy has at least 6 active submrrines but they use dated technology and are netoriusly noisey so could be detected and sunk rather eassily by the Royal Navy. The Royal Navy currently has one aircraft carrier (HMS Queen Elizabeth), although her sister ship (HMS Prince of Wales) is undergoing sea trials and could potentially be rushed into service in an emergency, which will operate F35Bs. At the time of typing, the UK has at least 18 F35Bs and the new weapons from MDBA are yet to be integrated. This means that HMS Queen Elizabeth will mainly be used to intercept Russian aircraft and to hunt down submarines, using Merlin helicopters but she will still be able to counter Russia’s Kuznetsov-class. The Royal Navy has 6 type 45 destroyers, so could mobilise 2 sustainably, to provide a high quality air defence to the fleet. They Royal Navy also operates 13 type 23 frigates, so could mobilise 4 sustainably, to provide a potent anti-submarine warfare capability and to supplement the type 45 destroyers in the event of a saturation attack with anti-ship missiles. The Royal Navy operates 3 Astute class submarines and 3 Trafigura class submarines which are a lot quieter than Russian submarines and would pose a great threat to Russian surface ships. The Royal Navy has a lot of logistical support vessels in its fleet including four Tide class tankers, two Wave class fast fleet tankers, one Fort Victoria class multirole replenishment ship and two Fort Rosalie class solid replenishment ships. The greater number of supply ships (especially tankers) relative to the fleet size would help the Royal Navy to fight the Russian Navy by increassing the effective range of Royal Navy vessiles.

I just want to remind my fellow humans out there that history may look very dark and many of us feel like it will continue to repeat itself over and over again, that we the people, always will be slaves to the ones on top who sets the rules. Maybe I'm wrong about this but I think we're overlooking one major thing that's different in todays world, one HUGE thing actually, a relatively new weapon not of mass destruction but of mass resurrection, and that weapon is what makes it possible for me to reach out to you all who are reading this, it's called the Internet. Now I know not everyone have access to this world wide means of communication, and that there's powers out there trying to control even this space, but the adoption of this technology keeps growing and even though it's still dark out there I can see the light that this brings in the form of people coming together in a way that was totally impossible before, the Internet has just been activated, it's not much older than 30 years, it's a newborn and its powers are still maturing, we have it, WE THE PEOPLE HAVE IT! Can't you see what this means? The possibilities we have here? Remember that our police officers and military personnel also use the Internet, they read, and they see, they think and they feel, they are not ignorant, they are human like you, and like me, they are our fathers and mothers, our sisters and brothers, they are our children, they are us, we are them! We need to start living a life guided by love and respect for each other, a life where we don't seek to harm each other but give it our best to understand our fellow human and make this planet a place for every one to feel at home on, and it all starts with me and you, yes you! You who reads this, it stats with us recognizing that deep down inside, we don't want to hurt any one, we want to feel useful and we want to be respected, let's try our best to give that respect to the ones we meet daily, to our neighbors, to our colleagues, give it to every one we meet, even if they don't give it back, and I promisse, we can actually turn this ship around and create a better reality for every one! From the bottom of my heart and soul, I LOVE YOU and I RESPECT YOU! (Please copy this message and spread it, spread it all over this place!) By saying those threats it is actually challenging Russia to a war. As for Russia, not accepting that challenge would make them look weak and lose respect. A limited war would bring some senses to the challenger. Since the battlefield is not within the challenger's borders, they can afford to say what they want. In such heightened situation, it is not appropriate to issue more threats to make the matter worse. Instead it is more prudent to send mediators to tone down the situation. Political rhetoric will not serve any purpose except for themselves. By the way, Putin has yet to try his hypersonic missiles.
