This reminded me of a simple VHF receiver I built years ago. It was in the march 1979 Electronics Australia. I still have the magazine. Its a regenerative receiver, using a bf115. The amplification stage users a bc549 and bc559 into an earpiece. So it's three transistors all up. What was neat about this project, was as well as covering the FM broadcast band, he details minor component changes to receive the air band and two metre amateur band.

Thanks Peter I love these simple circuits, It's suprising what can be received. Another great video thanks.

Peter, Great Video (love the long format with each detail well explained). On suggestion: I use another very lo puff capacitor as a fine-tune which it makes it much easier to rock back-and-forth around the main-tuning cap. I really appreciate your simplistic low-budget approach to show how much you can surprisingly do with so little! Thanks so much for all you do and your great channel community...

Yes, a low pf variable in parallel with the main tuning permits finer tuning. The broad selectivity of this receiver makes it unnecessary in this instance but very worthwhile for other receivers.

The good thing which i got is the biasing of the diode which solve the problem of making crystal diode receivers .thank you very much for this video

Around 60 years ago, I remember going to a "field day" in Sydney. The ham had a small transistor Field Strength meter that was used for 2m. You could also listen with an earpiece to a close transmission. I'm guessing this was probably a similar circuit.

Hi Peter, good project. I think a common base amplifier is more suitable for the RF preamp, than a common emiter, in this case.

Sir, would you please help me I'm beginner in electronics.. I have been made your circuit correctly but i don't know where the audio output to connect the circuit with the lm386 audio amplifier module.. The last stage is difficult for me i stopped at 4.7 capacitor and the 10k potentiometer.. I also used germanium diode instead of 1n5711 and omitted the 4.7m ohm resistor & 100nf cap the i added 47k resistor.. and i used vhf transistor 2n3553.. The only problem is how to connect the circuit to the audio amp module

Google LM386 audio amplifier circuit and you'll get connection details. A 2N3553 is a VHF RF power transistor likely unsuitable for this receiver so I suggest something else.
