Society errs on behalf of the female/wife/mother in matters of credibility between her and the father. So in that sense, she can be on the show and argue with him because she feels that society will champion her insanity. Linda (the neighbor) is female and just a neighbor. THUS, the advantage that she has over the father/husband in nullified on this show. She didn't want to challenge the neighbor speaking truth to power and the neighbor being there means that "society" (in general) might start turn against her. That is why she left.
