Yeah I’m working on a 2012 Chevy Cruz 1.8 L that had a warped head. antifreeze and oil mix together so you’re saying it could be a possibility that the bottom of the motor could’ve got damaged because I don’t know how long they drove it like that

Weldone bro, buy how could they have prime the oil system after the replacement of the oil pick up. Is it filling the oil pump with oil before replacing the sump or prefilled the oil filter to help oil circulation faster.?

Good info, difference between a Dd15 and a CAT IS at 100000 miles you buy a new. Block for DD, A CAT you line bore and go another 100000

That’s right if your DD made it to a million. We started trucking in 1977 sometimes after a million plus we would get away with changing mains and rods and let’s go!! Another million miles. Not no more trucking has become a nightmare. All the ridiculous regulations and where these engines are heading think they are going to eliminate a industry in trying to attain cleaned air so that China can enjoy!! Let’s face it the air we breath isn’t ours . But hey let’s join the race for clean air.

I’m not sure I understand why you can’t replace the crank and the rod. I work at a Detroit distributor and we replace cranks often as long as a main bearing doesn’t spin and that is per tech lit formerly psl.

I agree it is irreparable, but if absolutely necessary it can be "band-aided." My son-in-law didn't heed my advice to check the oil every time he gassed up their 1993 Honda Accord. Instead, when the oil light came on he dumped three quarts of oil in it. Then the oil light failed, and soon after that the engine seized on the freeway. He had it towed home where my daughter implored me to get it back on the road for six weeks. Sigh.... I dropped the pan and found a couple ounces of bronze filings in it. I removed the caps on all the rods and removed the bottom carrier to let me replace the fixed bearings (lower half only). I bought the bearing set and plastigage. Amazingly, all the journals were in spec (not that it mattered a lot; I was committed). I slapped it all together, ran 4 quarts of cheap oil through the engine to flush out the foul smelling goo and filled the crankcase with fresh 40W. The camshaft looked like it had been in a cat fight and the compression was abominable (ranging 95 to 60!), and the Check Engine light was always on and I didn't care why. I admonished them "no more than 2/3 throttle and no more than 65 mph." It lasted about two months until they came into money that enabled them to replace the car. In MASH they called it "meatball surgery." Strictly a DIY thing.

@@TATEXPRESSINC will the other shop own up to their mistake? i have been to plenty of shops even stealerships that had some poorly trained staff. one guy was doing a brake job on my 96' freightliner and could not figure out how to get the inner wheel off on the left side. that is when i figured out that i should probably do most of the work myself. however this takes time, requires me to buy tools that i do not have and instead of kicking back and enjoying a couple of days off i get to lay under the truck while rust (new hampshire winters) and dirt fall on me.

Hi, if I’m ever able to to get something out of the other shop I will update you on that. I took my truck to TAT because I needed someone I could trust on this diagnostic and this guys were able to help me and work with me as much as they could.

This is my truck and it did have oil, good oil pressure but than I lost lol oil pressure down to 0. I had another shop replante oil pump and than they started the truck with just filing up oil no priming and 20 minutes later it locked up. I took good care of my truck, unfortunately I couldn’t fix. Thanks to TAT for all the help I received from them, I do recommend tanking your truck to them, they know what they talking about.
