@eriche3197 Жыл бұрын
@@antony7256 I drove the 2017 acura ilx much and use it as a fun car. I drove more on the winding mountain roads which need shifting frequently. I would say the DCT on acura is very reliable and responsive, and to some extent safer than manual transmission since your hands never off steering wheel. But some designs you need to know, the DCT is still automatic by nature, even it is sports manual mode, but when speed too low it still will down shift, if rev too high, it still will up shift, the ECU is monitoring it in background. But it is not a bad thing, it ensures the life and safety of transmission

Both of the Si drivers in the video said they'd go with the Si still. Nothing wrong with that, you just have to decide where you priorities are. For some, they may prefer the more upscale features of the ILX such as the heated seats, smart entry/push button start, HID headlights, and upscale styling. Some may also prefer the better service experience at the dealership that you get with the Acura badge. In the end, we felt Acura captured the spirit of the Si and that was the most important part.

'14 Si does have a bigger head unit/screen which is nice. I might be the owner of a 15 ILX though in the very near future. I loved the car. Si seemed to racey. I would like to take the time out and tell how much I like and appreciate you reviews. In my opinon the Acura ILX and Civic SI are twin brothers, one is a boisterous athele that likes attention, partying and at the same time can be leisurely. The other twin is more mature, laid-back, casual and boisterous as well, like it's twin it is not afraid of a street fight and can stand up of itself.

The Verano turbo has more power but it's also 400 pounds heavier than the ILX so both are pretty much equal in straight line speed. Both vehicles have their strengths and weakness, we've driven both and were impressed with the compact Buick, but in the end, our editor-in-chief preferred the shifter and engine response in the 2.4 ILX.

@@jamespuckett1770 i was on the fence too and test drove a 2015 SI, first. Then I saw a 2014 ILX 2.4 6SP. Oh man, the ILX was the way to go hands down IMHO. Power feels the same, transmission feels the same, and the ILX was over 4K less.
@IndianaRailfan11 жыл бұрын
Being an individual that helps build the ILX in Greensburg, I really feel the ILX has potential to be a sportier car and it definitely has room for a bigger engine. I could realistically see a V6 going into this, but that's just from what I've had a chance to see. The other thing is that I feel a lot of people probably DON'T want to pay $30K for something like this when you can get an Si or a standard Civic for a lot cheaper. Then again, this vehicle was designed to be the "I'm a young man trying to make it in the corporate executive world" kind of thing and not an underground race car although it has potential to be (in my opinion).

Most automaker are just starting to build smaller that combine bigger engine connecting to an automatic transmission. I feel like Acura could do it, although it may bring the price even higher. Nonetheless, I will buy it of course if I was looking for a small luxury car with a bigger engine. 150hp is just too weak for a luxury brand. It should make between 180-200 hp with a 6 speed or more automatic transmission, something that Mazda3 offer in their 2.5 model and provide better gas mileage.

What are you talking about? My point is simply that they've improved the interior and there is less of a gap between the 13SI and ILX as there is between the 12SI and ILX. I didn't say the interior is "so" much better. But it is better. And I'm not an 'interior quality fan." I bought the car for it's engine and transmission and limited slip. If I was interested in in interiors I would have bought the Acura - which is overpriced. Thus the point of my original post.
@dmarker2111 жыл бұрын
Interesting video and opinions. I have a 2013 SI. I have not been in the ILX, but I'm having a hard time on understanding how this car can cost 8 grand more than an SI and you don't get the mechanical differential. Yes it has leather seats and probably some nicer quality interior components, but it seems rather superficial. With the 2013 re-fresh the SI feels much more premium. So the gap is even narrower. If you don't care about leather seats (me), there is no question the SI is the better car.

The ILX is a good luxury car for younger buyer, but those who want a better value probably should look at the Buick Verano since you can get more powerful engine with an automatic transmission at nearly the same price. If less is for your philosophy, then go for the ILX or the Verano. But there's no denying you can get a bigger car for the same money or other small car at a cheaper price. If Acura put an automatic on the 2.4 engine, I think the ILX probably will sales more.
