People talking nostalgia about Mediah. Those were definitely the days. Started playing at launch and Mediah was such a big deal. Before node wars and when +15 was max enhancement on weapons and armor. Where guild wars were literally scrims of two guilds lining up like freaking armies and testing strats. shield walls with warriors and valks. Mounted cavalry wizards and rangers pulling literal organized flanks. It was nutty and so much fun. "One combo'd" was not a thing unless you had some mad ninja tryhard or Orca came in with his hacked pen ogre ranger and two shot you with a bow. Back when BigandShiny hitting lvl53 was huge. lol. This is the one game I can look back with love on no matter how many times I leave and come back because of those fond memories. Still love the game but Kinda miss the smallness of it from back then. When it wasn't a race to biggest pp and was still just a big open world to discover and enjoy.

this was a fun nostalgia trip because i started before there was any seasons, naru gear, the suppressed gear event, or the oasis event so i had to use crappy ultimate green gear that i still have somewhere. by the time the suppressed event came around, i already had tet liverto, dragon slayer, and kutum. dimtree was ironicly the only piece of armor i ever got from a field boss. the thing about an official bdo classic mode is it could work but they couldn't just copy and paste old bdo because some things are best left in the past like the per-region auction house nonsense.

The thing Blue isn't taking into account when he thinks this would be so miserable to play, is that enhancing a Rusty Blade to +5 gives you the same dopamine hit as getting your first TET BS or something. The level of the gear is way lower, but so is the floor on what will give you that insane satisfaction and sense of progression. I certainly don't have the time to do it, but as someone who used to do Ironman runs in Diablo 2 back in the day and frequently plays SoloSelfFound mode in most modern games when it's available, it really is a rewarding playstyle. Ahzure isn't looking for a full BiS crystal setup, he's not looking for full top tier Fallen God gear, he's just looking to play in a way that he can always be making progress, and actually getting excited about stuff most of the normal player base just considers dead content.

The one thing that would recurringly revive this game - and just increase popularity - and have veteran players even stall progress on their main just to relive the concentrated player environment and natural emergent pvp is what everyone expected seasons to actually be. That is, rolling release of region locked content in a 'fresh start' server environment just like when they released a new server in a region (like SEA, RU, TW etc). Calpheon locked into Mediah locked, then migrate to main and reset season. One/two sieges per month (3-4 months total), pearl rewards for winning, make a big deal out - its the goal of the season, the overarching motive - everyone locked to +15 and then TRI. For anyone that never experienced it, you're missing out. The game is at its most fun, most MMORPG-like, most engaging, and most emergent (and balanced progression wise) when a server just releases and everyone is stuck to calpheon and mediah. Guilds that run for season only every time will emerge. Even the anti-pvp andies find their most fond memories in emergent gvg/group fights open world. The worst part about new server releases in the past had been class locks; they would roll class releases. But imagine calph-mediah locked with all the new classes. Instead we have glorified failstack/reward generators done in 5-6hrs seasons now, basically worthless experience just to throw gear at people without exactly making it window claimable.

I played every launch of BDO since NA/EU. Got the Playstation / xbox / and even fought the language barrier for MENA. The start of BDO was sooo fun. The base / Media/ and Calpheon regions are amazing. Before everything got too convoluted. If they made a "season" that starts withbase game and slowly launches regions id come back to the game 100%

I remember when Witch Earing is 25mil I grinding in Hexe like 1-2 years killed 2 million monster in Hexe making around 50-70m/h and got full IV boss gear with Hexe grind only. The tuvala gear system not came out yet so I enhance blue gear weapon from awk quest to IV and kinda easy to chill. (I bough all IV boss gear from the CM). The Infi HP and MP potion also not came out yet so ppl will actually need to carried 200-300 potion while grinding in the highest spot Hystria (StarEnd not updated yet)

Unfortunately some Green tier gear from vendors is locked behind Amity, knowing that I wanted to run Grunil up until I obtain boss gear, I found it easier to just grind for the Grunil boxes as opposed to playing the amity game.
