I don’t know if it’s the same guy, but I think the idea took off because of this one dude who worked as a paint mixer for Home Depot. (I’m sure he wasn’t the first, but personally I hadn’t seen any mixing stuff before him.) He’d make TikToks/Shorts of him, well, mixing paint and showing the result. Last I heard from him, he got fired because he was “out of line” advocating for his company having a social media presence, so I hope he’s doing alright. :( Edit: Was not Home Depot. It was Sherwin-Williams.
