That's why the uber-wealthy of The Gilded Age pulled ALL their shares from the stock market thus causing "The Stock Market Crash of 1929". When that happened, the entire economy collapsed. They sure showed us.

The causes are complicated and involved unregulated banking, agricultural shortfalls, lack of consumer confidence in multiple industries, attempts to reintroduce the gold standard, and Tariffs.
