Who remembers passing handwritten notes during class? You had to sneak a sheet of paper out of your trapper keeper when the teacher wasn’t looking, write your little note, fold it into some cute origami then whisper to the person sitting next to you “Psst! Hey, pass this to so-and-so…” then sit there in anticipation and watched as your friend sneakily opened it and tried not to react out loud 😂 then they’d write something and pass it back to you… a whole written conversation could take place for hours! Sometimes days! oh, and if you got caught?! Ha! the teacher had no problem airing your “business” in front of everybody!
@naahfam
@naahfam 11 ай бұрын
Or if you didn’t share classes with your friends, you’d write long letters at home or during class and hand deliver them whenever you saw them in the hallway… and if you were really fancy, you’d spray the paper with your favorite fragrance so they could smell you (especially if they were a crush). The experience was all-consuming! THIS, kids, was Original text messaging 😎

Sheri is on point. I remember when public phones cost a dime✅ As far as beepers, you couldn’t page anyone if you had a rotary dial phone ☎️ Public phones didn’t want us using them to page others so they stopped displaying the phone number. Of course we found out if you pressed 954 the computer would 𝒔𝒂𝒚 the phone number 😂 Also some parents had a house 𝒑𝒉𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒍𝒐𝒄𝒌. Thanks for the memories

Today it's nothing like the good year's in the past. People were more socialized. The price of food was a lot cheaper. Kid's was taught to respect the elderly. Television was fun and exciting. The sitcom shows. Like the Cosby Show. The Jefferson Show. Fact's of life. Three's Company. American Band Stand and Soul Train came on Saturday morning 🌅 people played spades and dominoes. The community gum was open. The boy's and girl's played basketball. The girl's jumped on the trampoline etc. It was safe to play outdoors.

That not remembering phone numbers is a BIG problem. Imagine driving to see relatives in another state and you lose your phone. I know only my phone number. Meanwhile everybody laughs but buy those violent, fantasy, video games for your children then wonder why a twelve year old can shoot someone, they've been practicing. 🙄🤔 Parents come home and you're too tired to cook but on social media, ordering Grubb Hub. My mom cooked and I cooked every night and on Sundays, Mondays was left overs. Most parents today don't take their children to the park, ride bikes,, on the phone walking their children to school, hanging out with your girlfriends on the weekends while your children are alone as long as they don't bother you. How are they supposed to know about what we had and you don't teach them? People don't even teach their Black children Black History but always on the phone gossiping. We laughed but this is not funny. They were seriously having withdrawals and anxiety.
