...the ankylosaur discussion at the end. It reminds me of a DnD game. Party's up against an ankylosaur. Nobody's landing a hit. Ranger makes the call - he's going to take the penalties to aim --specifically- at a part of the dinosaurs anatomy that he reasons will invariably be fatal if he even hits. Not the eyes. To quote: "Nothing survives being shot in the butthole!" I made stickers for that quote.

All really great questions, both fun and also educational. I think something that daunted me when I was contemplating trying to become a paleontologist and then seeing the requirements was Calculus and that immediately sunk that dream for me. Regarding taking a large dinosaur in a fight, I'd just point towards Mammoth hunting. Look at how that went with a dozen people that knew how to use a spear (and in the case of Neanderthals built like a brick shit house). Now make it a 1 v 1 using someone who's likely never hunted with a spear against something potentially bigger then a Mammoth. You'd be insane to try to take a dinosaur without a modern fire arm (and I do mean modern. No way in hell am I using a musket on a trex)

I'm picturing the spike grenade from halo explosion effect with the Ankylosaur hitting a person, and their ribs are the spikes. or they'd be quicker than you'd expect and they might be able to knock you over and trample or crush you. my big concern is over a really short distance like within 10 feet they could possibly cover that quicker than a person would expect. I'm not as worried about the tail as I probably should be in this case.

The Man with no Name’s Question None! I’d rather do a Prehistoric Park & bring the fauna to the present & look at it in a safe & controllable environment, not during the Mesozoic were there’s so much dangerous things. Dinodom’s Question Probably Maip macrothorax, because it sounds silly but it translates to the big chested shadow of death which is hilariously cool. Aaron Anderson’s Question If it’s something like a Dromaeosaur it would’ve been treated like a strange terrestrial bird, if it was say a Ceratopsian it’d be treated like some weird huge reptile. Nickname’s Question My stance for paleo accuracy across all media is, if it’s a documentary, I expect full up to date accuracy. If it’s made purely for entertainment, then accuracy isn’t really on the table, just give me a cool interesting visually appealing design with verisimilitude. Bi-onysus’ Question None! I’d be mauled & or eaten alive very quickly, heck even if I cheated & fought a mid sized Dromaeosaur like Deinonychus, I’d end up like a pair of security guards in the castle cross shopping mall.

I very much sit in the same place, though my standards for Documentaries are bit different. I want to see accurate up to the date of writing. No reason for a Doc to be scrapped because a new paper came out 2 weeks before release.

I would imagine a small ceratopsian or relative would taste pretty good. Hadrosaurs makes sense, but I wonder what a large, herbivorous theropod would taste like. Deinocheirus would be interesting, but imagine a therizinosaur. No one said anything about sauropods or even protosauropods, what would they taste like? I’d imagine plateosaurus would taste very different compared to a similarly sized hadrosaur. And I know these aren’t dinosaurs, but they talked about how delicious alligator was. Well, obviously there’s a plethora of large crocodilian relatives to choose from, but let’s get creative. What would a more terrestrial relative taste like? What about a mosasaur, or one of the large temnospondyls that lived during the Mesozoic? I’m off topic, but what dinosaur would you eat is a fun question.

Who is out here thinking they could beat an eagle. First of all what kind? I'm assuming bald. That thing can beat you over the head with its wings, it's got a massive beak and massive talons. It could absolutely rip your throat out _and_ it has the advantage of flight. It would be really easy for you to become Prometheus - first it would go for your eyes/face and neck, or your underbelly. Of course assuming this is a situation in which the eagle is Hell bent on killing you, your best shot would be to _try_ and break the wings and/or legs but I think most people underestimate how _powerful_ birds are.
@Vombatiform27 ай бұрын
To be fair, the most likely scenario is that the eagle foots your arm and maybe gives you a few whacks with its wings. Worst case scenario it foots your face but even that is unlikely to kill unless you are a small child and the eagle can give your skull a good squeeze. They don't really go for throat or belly shots, it's moustly "which part of this weird monster can i get my toes around?"
