Disney should provide at least 2 vegetable selections and 2 fruit selections for at least 2 meals a day if they want a healthy crew.

That reminds me when I was in a blind school for a month and the school only use donated food and we got no fresh vegetables or fruit that I can ever remember it drove me crazy I was so desperate for fresh fruit that I actually ordered a box of fresh fruit from Harry and David it cost me $50 to have it shipped to the school when I got it it was like fireworks going off I had people running in my room begging and pleading for a piece of fruit and we bit into it it was not even ripe none of us care of it what is it ripe at all we devoured the entire box in one day I could re-also remember finding out That there was a grocery store like a mile away and walking to that store just to be able to buy fresh fruit and that’s the vegetables that we ate raw you don’t know how desperate and crazy you get for fresh fruit and vegetables when you don’t have it.

The lack of fruits and veggies is disturbing!! I will definitely be speaking up for the crew on my next Disney vacay to request the crew gets fruits and vegetables daily.

Fresh fruits are a rarity for sure!
@khrystalocke15614 жыл бұрын
@Brian yes, they are. But there is a lot of fresh produce that is left uneaten/unserved on the guest side that could go to the crew. Also, apples and bananas and grapes are pretty cheap.

Lol your food description and then talking about long-time crew that had special sauces & spices to fix the food up.....reminds me of those prison shows when the guys talk about going to the commissary and making food concoctions! I’m a little shocked that fresh fruit and veggies aren’t a focus of what they feed you, that’s a little shameful especially being a “Disney Product”

Working for Disney or on a Disney cruise is definitely something I've never even considered. (I actually have no clue why YT recommended your videos, but I've been watching them while the country is in lockdown quarantine.) I really appreciate all your info on life as a crew member. I've worked 12-14 hour shifts before as a veterinary nurse in an emergency hospital, but I could go home every night, eat fresh fruit and veggies, sleep in my own bedroom ALONE! and I had days off to recharge after draining myself during my work week. I don't know how this is allowed. I had no clue Disney treated you so terribly as a crew member. I did work with one girl who worked at Disney World after college about 10 years ago. She was paid terribly and lived in (I think) a staff apartment situation with other Disney employees. Although they had days off, she said they were all so broke that they could never afford to go out and sometimes just making rent and buying groceries was a stretch. And that was with 5 people in a small 2 bedroom apartment! The very, very worst thing you've mentioned though is the lack of fresh fruit and vegetables. I'm primarily a vegetarian. I literally don't think I could survive eating crew food. I think it's horrible that Disney would deny that to staff when they do things like carve melons and pineapples into sculptures to place in the guest dining areas for decoration. Wow. Your videos have really opened my eyes.
@TeenG4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for watching and I am so glad that I can keep you entertained during this crazy time. Yes that is the reality for so many cast members in Disney World, mostly those in the college program. I was living in Disney housing and VERY broke those days too. I am a vegetarian too! It was hard, I did what I could to make it work! I agree with you so much about the melon carving!

There are tons of books about what it’s like to be a Cast Member at the parks, but as far as I know there’s nothing like that written by anyone who worked for DCL. You should considering writing a book and publishing through Theme Park Press!

As someone who worked for them for 5+ years, this is on point. The food is terrible. You work long hours for almost no money, but I would not say it's not worth it. It's a great experience, but they do take advantage of the crew. DCL knows what they are doing.

Disney definitely needs to hear from the crew for a way to fix theses easily fixable problems that make you guys more comfortable and mentally happy! Someone has to be “the Voice of the crew for mental health and happiness😁” while working for this awesome company called “Disney Where Dreams Come True!” 😢🎆 It breaks my heart to go in a cruise - or any cruise - while there are people working there that are not happy when they (Disney or any Cruise Corporation) can so easily make this dream/life come true!!!!!

Wow Disney is really uptight. My daughter on Carnival can eat in guest areas. There are certain times but they can. If there’s a line she has to let guests go in front of her. They can eat in The dining room they just have to pay $5 gratuity on their sign and sail card. They can also drink in guest areas like the dining room or comedy club or the main theater they just can’t drink a lot. Carnival seems more laid back than Disney.

I’m confused because I’ve been up on deck 11 of the fantasy & dream and I’ve actually sat next to staff members eating at Mater’s and the other 2 windows. They have a salad bar right there as well as fruit available at the panini window. Ive been on several cruises and I can actually call these staffers by name....Why were they allowed to eat and others aren’t?
@TeenG5 жыл бұрын
Like I say in the video depending on privileges/ rank and manager some crew members are allowed to eat on deck 11. Depending on what department you are in and what ranking you are decides if you can eat in guest areas or not.
@Scorpiyo3605 жыл бұрын
Teen G you definitely stated this, but (with all due respect) they aren’t ship officers of of high status at all as I’ve developed a real friendship with these crew members. I never knew that crew were being treated this way or I would have asked them to explain how they’re allowed to eat upstairs and eat fruit and veggies but others aren’t. This is very sad and passengers should be made aware of this and demand better treatment of the crew. I’m going on the Southern in a week and you can best believe I’m going to be asking questions.

Hi, I'm quite new to your channel. I'm from Canada and started watching Disney Cruise videos. At 8:10 you mention welcome line and reservations. If I want to finish at 8pm what steps should I take to apply for those roles? Also on the Disney cruise do they pay hourly? What is exactly is the process like to get permission to eat food from the restaurants outside of the mess hall? Is it matter of just asking a manager and if that person is in a good mood for that day they will grant you access?
@TeenG5 жыл бұрын
That is not an option unfortunately, Those are duties you get while working once a month in ether youth activities, Boutique or cruise staff roles. Everyone on the ship works 70+ hours a week. Cruise ship work id contractual but broken down I made about $5 an hour. You ask a manager a few days in advance and get a form signed. It de[pends on how full the ship is and how full reservations are.
@QuangNguyen-dw9je5 жыл бұрын
@@TeenG Thanks so much for your reply! As a Canadian, I don't know much about working for American companies. So for cruise life how does pay for overtime work if at all? I am considering server or entertainment roles for Disney cruise. For entertainer roles I am open to being a dancer or a fur character. What do you know about the roles I am interested in?

@TheStaceySquad5 жыл бұрын
As long as you can get a work Visa for the U.S. They could possibly hire you! Once you pass the application and the interview process. Good luck! I think you have to through the U.S. Embassy to get work visas etc.. I've been looking into study abroad and different visas etc... and I've found out that you have to go through the U.S. Embassy to get a student visa (to go into another country from the U.S.) . So I'm sure it's similar for a work visa if you're international coming to the U.S. for work here.
@CesarinPillinGaming5 жыл бұрын
You can get work from Disney for certain positions from all over the world. You just need to contact their procurement allies and check which positions they are requesting. Latinos are sought mostly for Waiters and Kids related ( oceaneers club, etc..). Which reminds me that DCL (and most cruise lines) are pretty racist in terms of filling certain positions. I have NEVER seen a position higher than 2 stripe (example, IT staff, high ranking Officer) from any procurement ally in Latinamerica. These jobs are always offered to USA, CAN and EUROPE (as per the website of Disney Careers compared to what the procurement allies request). Mexico for example, always get requests for Nannies and Waiters (for all companies). Any IT staff or non entertainment that requires expertise like Maintenance, Management, Human Resources, etc? nope..
