Oliver is a lot more picky than my Barney; a 7 to 9 year old rescue full beagle we've had for a couple years. His philosophy is that if it fits in his mouth, it is good for food.

My mom made creamed chipped beef for me as a kid and she would put peas in it. Never cared for the peas but liked the SOS. I would take the left overs and put it over my pet beagles dry food. When she was done eating, there would be a pile of peas in her dish and nothing else.

My dog Princess likes to eat pickles, popcorn, muffin wrappers, cheese, peanut butter, and various other strange foods. She's like a goat, she'll eat anything. It's true that Oliver will eat anything if it's outside and he found it on the ground. In that case, everything is delicious!

Maybe Oliver likes anything he finds outside because it satisfies the hunting instinct. When he is fed there is no excitement in the find or capture, but when he goes outside he hunts and sniffs. Anything he finds, is his treasure. My half beagle Autumn once brought me a dead mourning dove and most recently brought a dead mouse inside. I had to distract her with a snack so she would drop the rodent and I could take it away! I guess it is all in the hunt.

Our beagle Charlie loves bananas. He can hear the snap of a banana being torn from the bunch or snapped open. He can also smell it. He gets very upset if you do not share. Love your Oliver videos. He is a typical Beagle.

Wow, I can not imagine a beagle that does not gobble all food. Our beagle would eat anything. She was a disposal. We had to watch her closely. One time she found a peanut that had fallen on the floor and she wolfed it up so fast she almost choked. That was scary. Luckily my husband was home and being a first responder he knew exactly what to do, even on a dog. He pretty much performed the heimlich-maneuver and it worked! The peanut dislodged and she could breath! We lost her at 14 years from cancer. She was so sweet and loving; we greatly miss her.
