It's an empty husk of a biblically based faith that's done away with tradition and doesn't hold to the inerrancy of scripture. How is that based exactly?
@GR-dk5ju3 ай бұрын
Consider 2 Timothy 3:5-7; Romans 1:32; and 1 Corinthians 6:9-10. When you bury affirmation of sin which leads to death under a thick veneer of glorious Christian tradition cultivated by men who would cringe of second hand embarrassment at your church's very existence, you are not "based." When you uphold the Bible as a "cool" book with one hand while, in the other hand, casually mutilate clear and objective biblical truths to make way for gay social agendas (literally) which were conjured up ten minutes ago, you are not "based." When you you decorate your church buildings with flags and banners which represent the insistence of sodomy across our land, in the very church buildings funded by generations of men and women who are now actively praying in heaven against your wicked activities and blasphemies, you are not "based." When you discard the substance and uphold the form, you blaspheme BOTH! "This persuasion is not from him who calls you. A little leaven leavens the whole lump." -Paul the Apostle

Ah, but (in my opinion, unfortunately) the Articles have never been binding for clergy or laity in The Episcopal Church. No doubt many Episcopalians have confessed the articles, but they've never been required.

If I were not a Lutheran (ELCA), I would probably be an Episcopalian. We have theological similarities on many things and we are both open to differences so long as what is taught by the church holds to the essentials. I still prefer Lutheranism but I cannot say Ive ever had a negative experience in an Episcopal Church. Loved your video.

Historically, Episcopal/Anglican beliefs are spelled out in the formularies (39 Articles and the BoH).
@Episcopilled3 ай бұрын
That's certainly true for the Church of England, and maybe the Anglican communion at large, but the Articles have never been binding for Episcopal clergy or laypeople.
@Willwhite58093 ай бұрын
@@Episcopilled@Episcopilled That is just factually inaccurate, and you can't understand the history of American Episcopalianism 1789-1907 without the Articles being binding. I would encourage you to read the statements from the House of Bishops relating to the Articles. Very good. A couple things from a catechist. 1. The daily office is a public office of the church not private 2. You described Historic Episcopacy, not only Apostlic Succession. We believe those who do not have bishops will have Apostlic Succession, just not an Historic Episcopacy, as seen in the Chicago-Lambeth Quad. Beyond that it's pretty good keep it up.

I'll be going to an episcopal church in the future. I'm very conservative and find lgbtq, abortion, and female ordination to violate scripture. Are there episcopal churches that stay conservative and respectfully decline lgbtq and abortion along with female priests and bishops to ensure valid apostolic succession?

There are some that are antiabortion and won't do same sex marriages. However, there are next to known who don't believe women are not allowed to be ordained.

would you say that the Episcopalian view of "One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church" is in line with universal historic Christianity? are there any Church Fathers youd suggest to support your view? in my searching into the historic Church, i have found no commonality among the Fathers that would support Branch Theory (even though id like it to be true).

So would Episcopalians let someone who is actively practicing homosexuality be a priest? Also, who is qualified to definitively interpret scripture? Also, why do Episcopalians not believe the deuterocanon when historically that’s what the church believed?
@EpiscopilledАй бұрын
1. Yes 2. No one is qualified to 'definitively interpret' Holy Scripture except the Holy Spirit working through the faithful. 3. Episcopalians do believe and use the Deuterocanon for both public worship and private devotion, as is stated in the video.
@jameswest9469Ай бұрын
@@Episcopilled is the deuterocanon on the same level as the rest of the scripture? And how can you let someone actively in sin to be in ministry leadership? Also, what does it mean that it’s the Holy Spirit through the faithful? The Catholics believe that the church will by the Holy Spirit not officially bind the church to heresy, do you think your church does the same?

Jude 1:3-7 NLT [3] Dear friends, I had been eagerly planning to write to you about the salvation we all share. But now I find that I must write about something else, urging you to defend the faith that God has entrusted once for all time to his holy people. [4] I say this because some ungodly people have wormed their way into your churches, saying that God’s marvelous grace allows us to live immoral lives. The condemnation of such people was recorded long ago, for they have denied our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ. [5] So I want to remind you, though you already know these things, that Jesus first rescued the nation of Israel from Egypt, but later he destroyed those who did not remain faithful. [6] And I remind you of the angels who did not stay within the limits of authority God gave them but left the place where they belonged. God has kept them securely chained in prisons of darkness, waiting for the great day of judgment. [7] And don’t forget Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighboring towns, which were filled with immorality and every kind of sexual perversion. Those cities were destroyed by fire and serve as a warning of the eternal fire of God’s judgment.

That baptism thing kinda, he touches a nerve because I had a twin brother die of sudden, infinite syndrome way back in the day and because he wasn't baptized. According to the church, he was not born on to eternal life. And was stuck in purgatory or burning in hell, innocent babies excluded from the like love of God, because some priest didn't say some words. And sprinkle some water on the forehead baptism is supposed to be an outward expression of inward faith. Nothing more. And a little baby aint qualified to make that decision. Yeah, we had been episcopellions for hundreds of years.We were the first episcopalians, my ancestors died for that belief burned for heresy i'm going to go to an Episcopal Church. Because I'm church shopping. I'll know in a minute whether it's trappings. In ceremony or whether the spirit is present, this should be interesting
@EpiscopilledАй бұрын
I'm terribly sorry to hear about your brother, it must have been a great loss to grow up without him. You and he will be in my prayers 🙏 To be clear, the position of the Episcopal Church is not that unbaptized children go to hell; while we recognize that Baptism as instituted by Christ is generally necessary for salvation, the thief on the cross shows us that Christ can save without the sacrament. We baptize children because we believe that Baptism is an expression of God's faithfulness to us, rather than the other way around. Baptism is the beginning of a relationship, and I don't think we have the right to deny that covenant/bond to our children. Regardless, I hope your search for a church home is fruitful. Peace.
