Please read before you write +1 comment about the need to release this fox into the wild. 🙏
These foxes were born in captivity on a fur farm. Information about fur farms you can easily find on the Internet. For a long time, the ancestors of these foxes were kept in cages, bred and fed by people. They don't have the skills to exist in a natural (as it seems to us) environment.
To understanding the process of reintroduction (the return of animals to their natural habitat after growing in artificial conditions), I usually recommend the documentary series "Project Grizzly" (2016). "Project Grizzly" follows bear trainer Jeff Watson and his two rescued bear. Watson attempts to return them to the wild where they belong. Jeff must teach the bears every skill they don't currently possess in order to survive the deep wild. Please watch these series if you think you can just release an animal into the forest and to consider that as a good job.
As for my Fox, Vasilisa was running away from home. She spent 16 days in the wild, but something didn't work and my fox came back home - skinny and covered with over 100 ticks. Freedom has cost dearly for her. My Baby was not able to sleep at night. She was screaming when her bowl with water was empty. In the first days, we spent hours taking off the ticks. We should be thankful to the vet that everything went fine. I'm telling you this story to illustrate what a cruel freedom it is and how difficult wild animals to survive there.
One last thing... You see how my Fox is "talking". In natural conditions, foxes do not use a "Squeaker". They are silent because it's their self-preservation instinct. Especially they prefer to stay silent when it really hurts.. in order not to become easy prey. Our Fox is talking, and it means she feels safe. 💖
