Speaking for all the nurses here, THANK YOU! YES just keep your baby in a blanket/swaddle and skip the outfits until going home! Skin to skin has all the bonding, breastfeeding benefits and helps temperature regulation. And it makes it so much quicker for the nurse to assess baby and take their vital signs! Less interruption to the family.

Combs, YES!!! I used them for my 4th birth and was amazed at how much they worked. And getting yourself into a meditative mindset through the whole labor. My last one was actually the easiest one I've ever had. All because I breathed differently, stayed in prayer and the combs. ❤
@JessicaWarner-t4j Жыл бұрын
My first attempt at a VBAC I was very anxious and impatient to get to the hospital. Then once I was there --only 3.5cm-- the constant monitoring really didn't help anything progress well... c section number 2. BUT with my third baby, I REALLY soaked up time in the Word, in the Lord's presence and knew because of that I would know when it was really crucial to go to the hospital. I was in prodromal labor for a week! Had I gone in early they probably would've started all the interventions. Little peanut finally broke the water naturally 3 days past due at home and we knew! So we arrived at the hospital 7cm and READY. Got that VBA2C! Praise God.

I just had my second unmedicated hospital birth and also used combs for the first time. I LOVED them so much. I also loved the gentle birth contraction timer. It helped me feel grounded and I actually prayed during the meditations, even though they’re not overtly religious. I packed a pillow this time and really loved that and wish I packed it with my first.

I just gave birth to my first baby in China! Hospitals here don’t provide anything in terms of baby/momma disposable care so I brought all my own pads and diapers and wipes. Besides that our hospital bags were very similar!

So funny for me, I remember watching all these "what to pack" videos, and I'd laugh at all the wild things people would bring. I packed VERY minimally, and somehow STILL over packed. 😅❤️ You do not need all the things! However, I will mention, be ready with postpartum care items for yourself when you get home from the hospital, you'll want that all ready! ❤ I think what you packed sounds perfect! Positive vibes your way!

Hi from MN! I've had 3 babies in the hospital and my last one I brought a portable white noise machine. It was SO helpful. Baby probably didn't care a ton, but for the nighttime hospital checks from nurses and also hearing others in their rooms or hallway, it was so nice to be able to drown some of that unwanted noise out!! :)

Small soft warm easy to manipulate (not too many functions or needed switching between colours) 💡night light for breastfeeding and night changes would've been nice. My own 🛌 down pillow. We stay for a minimum of 72 hrs and the beds are terrible. I would've doubled it as an acceptable nursing pillow when needed as well. Rest of the things are probably more specific to my country - Slovakia 🇸🇰. - Loads and loads of food, and fresh produce... I ate *a ton*. 🍎🍌🫐🥒🍓🫑🥛🧃🍪 - My own utensils and plate and a bowl (they rush us here with food so I'd transfer all the food provided to my own plate and return their plates and then eat when I actually had time and peace and washed my plate once I was done). 🍽️🥣 (also my travel dishsoap was neat) - I gave birth in winter and they force you to layer your NB and while they provide outfits you have to go pick them from a huge pile of clean laundry and I had no idea about sizes and pulling too small outfits over a poor NBs head (and then having to take them off just to try another too small of the all too small outfits) was semi-traumatizing for me so I try gifting my friends a (kimono) wrap body that you lay the baby on top of and button on the sides and rather a bit oversized than risking too little. Also my own onesies (that I took 2 of one of each size) were a lifesaver due to the clothing issue so I would this time count on taking all of mine clothes and 4 (so I don't have to worry too much about drying) of each of my own for sure. 🩱👘 - A thermos was another nice one for holding breastfeeding or poop-helping teas warm. 🍵 - On my second go around I might consider a tophat potty (or just the top green lid of the bigger ikea potty or some other creative solution) for trying to catch the first meconium poo, the baby really sleeps a lot after birth so the wake window could be followable to try ECing, we'll see :D and a small spray bottle to spray warm water on baby's bum while wiping. 🎩💩 - Hooks were also a random thing I asked my husband to bring over but were surprisingly useful. Ikea has these black ones where you can hang them on two different widths and we didn't even have a toilet paper holder in the barhroom, so hooks on doors for clothes snd bags and hooks for towels on the shower were neat. 🪝 - Also (this was my mom's tip) - lots of towels. She was right, I was super grateful I had as many as I did. 🧖♀️ - Oh and did I mention FOOD? 😂 I was ravenous, I easily ate 4k calories each day+night and foods that I didn't have to chew were great for nights. (The cheapest non organic purees with added sugar in flavours I like, cereal and milk, bananas, lady fingers "piškóty", oatmeal bars "fit tyčinky" and other sugar packed easy munches. Juice! Teas, though the hospital provided some as well) - Low waist cotton leggins. (Opposite to what most would wear) 👖 - cotton or viscose kimono dress type of thing 🥋👘

Something that was really important for me to have during both of my postpartum hospital stays was my reusable water bottle. I drink water a lot on a typical day and because the hospital is so dry I find myself needing to drink even more. The little cups the nurses bring are not enough for me! Lol. Best of luck this time around. 😊

I’m also Canadian (ON right now) and nice to see another Canadian mama pack her bag. I find all the Americans hard to identify with, they seem to get so much provided by the hospital and they stay for days. I would say the nursing pillow is essential! I tried using the hospital pillows as support with my first and they were terrible. I preferred to have the adult diapers at the hospital. My midwife was impressed I had them, too. So, a definitely a good choice. I just wear a robe the whole time in the hospital. But then, we don’t accept visitors so it’s just hospital staff to worry about (or not, as the case may be). Hopefully, you don’t forget a loooong phone charger. Or a power bank so you can keep your phone handy while it charges.

The hospital here in New England provided diapers and manual breast pumps! I'd add relaxing essential oils, massage oil, a nice pillow for yourself as well because there are never enough in the hospital, peppermint oil for nausea especially if you're having a c-section bring that into the OR with you for nausea, afterease tincture for afterpains, battery powered candles, birth affirmations, electric heating pad for labor and postpartum, possibly a TENS unit for labor. This is coming from a person who has experienced long labors/c-sections, so if you're expecting that may want extra comfort measures.

🙋♀️Hi Delilah, well, still waiting on baby, huh? Well, she/he just isn't ready to be born yet! She's/He's waiting to stay where it's nice & safe & warm! Hey, I wouldn't want to come out yet either, I was 3 weeks late, & 2 of my 4 children were 3 weeks late also! 😢one was a day late & the last one, 5 days! So it was pretty good! The last one was difficult. I had preaclampia! I'm was getting a little 😢 worried 12 hrs in labor for a fourth child. But I had him 1 minute before noon, almost had to a have a C-section. But he finally decided to come. You won't need half the stuff you're bringing! Yes, they have clothes & diapers for the baby, & the pillow & baby pillow are good to have. Yes, to nacks! Mine wore the t-shirts & diaper. Going home in, Yes in a new outfit, usually a homemade ones my mother would make & baby blankets. I loved those so much! She would help me Lot when I got home. My husband would some, but he didn't know what to do much, except what I told him to do! I would always pack too much! I'm just that kind of packer. If I forgot something, my hubby would go get it for me. Especially bring the camera. Back then, we had a camera, film, flash cube, etc. Extra film. So I hope everything goes well for you & baby! God Bless you, baby & all your family! Take breaths & SMILE! ❤👶❤️🫂🌞🍄🌹🪻🦋

I live in a different country and here are some things I have done for my first and will do for my second baby next year: - only pack dark coloured PJ's and towels as they will get stained beyond repair - eye blinds for sleeping - a little light in your room has to be ALWAYS ON in case of emergency (hospital policy); it was hard to sleep during my first stay, as I love to sleep in total darkness 😅 - hospitals here provide everything for the baby - clothes, blankets, covers, diapers, wipes - last two are donated to the hospitals and sometimes they are short on supplies - so even thou they say you don't have to bring anything I will pack a few diapers and a pack of wipes - just to leave more for others, but I don't have to worry about running out of anything - the husband/partner can not stay in the hospital with you; they can be with you during labour ant then visit during visiting hours but they can't sleep there with you, so I don't reall need to bring anything for my husband - goint home clothes for me and the baby - I do not pack it in my labour bag, but a separate one - my husband has to bring these things along with a car seat to the hospital on they day that we are leaving, the hospital staff dresses the baby and helps you get dressed and pack - which is a good thing, because at that time you already know what size your baby is and you only need to bring one set of clothes - I don't plan on putting makeup on in the hospital either but I am going to bring makeup removing oil and cleanser - I don't know, maybe I will go into labour having a full face of foundation and waterproof mascara on 😅 - I thing I will take that ring you sit on after giving birth - for my first birth I got an incision, I could not find a comfortable position as it was painfull to sit up normally; after going home that ring pillow was such a relief! In case I need an incision this time (which I soooo hope I wont!) I want to be prepared - I am not going to bring a robe - they keep a hight temp in the hospital, as I stay in my room I will only have my PJs on; if it turns out to be a longer stay/Csection/NICIU situation and I will have to walk around the hospital - my husband can always bring it in later; but I don't need it to take space in my hospital bag - snacks, but also a super sweet drink, something with a lot of sugar - just to chug it down quickly for that extra sugar intake, if I need it during birth or right after just to bring myself some energy Aaaand I thing that is all 😅 I also plan to pack minimalistic, keeping in mind that my husband can always bring me extra stuff if I need anything; hope you have a safe delivery Delilah and all best wishes to you and your family ☺ greetings and love from Poland 😘

We kept him in just a diaper the whole time so I didn’t even bother bringing outfits except for what he went home in. I brought clothes for me and ended up just wearing the disposable underwear and my bra the whole time until we left ! Only thing I didn’t think to bring that I definitely will next time is Velcro swaddles cause I suck at swaddling with a blanket so they always came undone ! We also wayyyy over packed snacks. A couple things I’m glad I packed were a small travel size spray air freshener. Nothing crazy, I think it was lime and basil and just made it smell bright and homey in there and I never over sprayed to be respectful of the nurses and of course my newborn. I just hate that dragnet medicinal smell in hospitals lol. And then I know many cultures don’t have this but I brought my Medicine Blanket. It made me feel at home and safe and it was constantly cold in the room and it kept my babies and I warm. So if you feel a lot of comfort from a specific blanket I’d definitely recommend that. And you can wash it when you get home after. But other than that I found I didn’t need half the things I always brought. Our hospital provided a care package to every mom with hair ties and toothpaste and chapstick and so many things. And our hospital did provide diapers. The only thing is they gave us these wipes that we had to wet ourselves and it was such a hassle and they didn’t work well. So I’d always call or ask on the hospital tour if you take it what they provide. But yeah, the robe is also such a great suggestion, I did that too. I just wore my robe the entire time. It helped the doctors and nurses check me and helped me take care of the baby while still being comfortable. Anyway, good luck to you and all the Mama’s who are waiting for baby! I wish you safety, rest, and so much joy! 🖤

27 weeks, first time momma and I’m finding your videos so helpful and calming! What going home/comfy dresses would you recommend? Having a hard time finding flowy things.. 😊🌷

36w with my second and I’m not taking a single thing besides couple outfits for baby chapstick and hair ties, I packed so much stuff I didn’t even use last time and plus they let you take everything that’s in your room home! Diapers wipes etc
