Dad Saves America

Жыл бұрын

In disruptive times like these, it can be useful to expand your mind with radical new ideas, especially when they challenge your own assumptions. We need to remember that discomfort can be the first step in genuine learning, but only if we’re open to it.
Today’s guest, Malcolm Collins, is a neuroscientist, serial entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and one of Amazon's best selling non-fiction writers. He and his wife Simone are reimagining education and much more through their work at the Collins Institute and the five “Pragmatist’s” guides they have written together. Their books explore everything from building an intentional life to starting your own religion. Malcolm and Simone also recently started their "Based Camp" podcast, which focuses on how humans process the world around them and the future of our species.

Wow! This is easily the best interview I have ever done. Both spicy, informative, and comprehensive - hopefully it is at least entertaining for people.

I enjoy this guy's excitement and enthusiasm. I agree with on so much stuff. Which I find very interesting based on how I see him culturally. Definitely an odd couple of ducks. But I'm glad they exist. Keep Bringing Light to the World in your Way, y'all.

I didn't know that Scott The Woz lived a double life as a neuroscientist, venture capitalist and aithor in addition to being a game reviewer.

I've never seen such a burst of energy on a podcast, loud voice, energy and excitement. Didn't drink water in this whole interview, kept the same energy for 1 hour+ wtf. Bro is married with kids, busy schedule but still his testosterone is up there.

I like and enjoy a lot of Collins ideas, but he is so manic that it's exhausting and off-putting to listen to him! Relax, man.

I was expecting more than unsupported claims from your guest. I'm not sure he understands what truth is. If he did he would not claim that there are different truths for different people. Beliefs vary but not truth. I think he is a very arrogant young man. "Wokeism" is so twisted in his definition. "It's a tumor". [He's not even generous enough to say it is "like a tumor".] Is he intellectually unable to make rational nuanced comments? He hasn't made one "Steel-man" argument that might demonstrate that he had an understanding of other's' views. "Anti-science"?? What is the actual alternative to establishing the best current explanations for observed natural phenomenon other than using the scientific method? As a supposed scientist he must know that Science has systems in place, like double blind studies, peer review, falsifiability, duplication of results, etc., that attempt to offset human error and human failings. I am left thinking that he doesn't understand how science works, or how rational argument works. He extends no "good will" to people with other philosophies or ideas. 30:44 Feminist Movement is equivalent to a "virus" and the all think the same things [as the other things "infected by this virus]. How relieved I am to have Feminism man-splained to me. And you said nothing! Unbelievable! Malcolm's claims about removing all pain and suffering are without foundation. Do you really think that for millions of years animals tore each other to bits without any pain and suffering. Do you think that it follows that without humans there would be no pain and suffering? What an unthoughtful conclusion. Why are you letting him blather on with these ridiculous claims? [The Shakers, the Anti Natalists, etc., do not wish to have children, so what? Historically, Eugenicists had the ability to decide who they thought shouldn't have children. And Catholics and Protestants alike decide that it would be better for children to live in orphanages rather than be "patented" by the 'wrong' type of family. Is that their twisted attempt to prevent pain and suffering? I couldn't listen past 45 minutes. Irrational arrogant young man. Since qualia is not falsifiable it is no more relevant or scientific than "brains in vats" discussions [solipsism]. I can't listed to any more unsubstantiated claims and word salad.

Your points are so poorly argued that they aren't worth bothering with. It's you who is arrogant, but you won't realize that for years/decades. I'd guess you're in you're 20s. If you think Malcolm doesn't support the scientific method, you're not able to understand his rhetoric. Not sure what you can do about that. Listen to his podcasts, worth your time.

You may not agree with my evaluation, but you have have not responded to any of my observations with factual or logical evidence. Your response makes me think "you're in your 20's". Read a book on Critical thinking. @@jamesmcmann8536
