Damn that girl at 7:00 has arms wider than my legs. I actually think obesity in Thailand is higher than my home town in Colorado USA today. It's like if you look at old footage from the 80s and everyone is thin then fast forward 30 years and 50% of the people are overweight or obese. What got America has got Thailand too it seems.

Yeah I agree, I was there in 2000 & 90+% of Thai women were all slim & I'm stunned now at the size of them, a buddy of mine told me the younger generation started drinking milk shakes .. scoffing processed carbs all in western homage .. that's the Internet effect.

I get slammed for my views of Thai food so I am glad to hear your comments. Thai food is fantastic for a vacation, but it gets old pretty quickly. I have been there 5 times, each time for about a month, and I always find myself searching out other food options. I don't care if I never eat pad Thai again TBH. Also...I can confirm that there are a crazy amount of beautiful middle-aged Thai women who will appreciate a good man and aren't looking at you as an ATM.

my main concern with staying/retiring in Thailand is language barrier and able to communicate/converse with local. The older I get, it's harder for me to learn a new language personally.

Age is not an excuse. You'll learn slower compared to a young buck but you still need to make a good effort to learn. Or you'll be bored to death knowing just English. It's more easy than ever to learn

You’ve got to put in at least an hour a day minimum of learning the language. Aim for one new word a day and go from there. So many great free lessons on KZbin …

There's much about Thai food that is not reflected in street food. The same goes for any country. Street food needs to be cooked quickly so there's limits on what can be made.

Thai food is peasant food at the end of the day. That works for me and I eat it every day for years but it's nothing fancy and people who enjoy high quality meals will get burned out for sure.
