Same happened to me last night around 3 am. I was pretty sure it was a fox in heat, because cats behave and sound similar, but I had to check to make sure. It was so loud.

Less than five minutes after I played this my regular fox visitor showed up like he was coming to dinner late 🤣 I leave eggs n raw beef scraps from my butcher a few times a week and the fox takes care of the pests in my woodlot. I hadn't seen them two this winter but the tracks are around so I guess our timing is different than last year.

I live up in the mountains and could not figure out what this was. At first I thought it was a distressed deer so I came out n the middle of the night and freezing cold saying “it’s okay, where are you?” That was when my neighbor said it was either a mountain lion or fox looking to get some action, I’m retry sure it was the fox thanks to your video. The fox's actions seem to be a mixture of a cat and a dog. When your cat becomes an adult and starts making these strange sounds.. The neighbors heard the sound and thought I torture my cat...I had to release her into the garden so she could find herself a male cat.
