What a difference 16 years can make. Surprised fence across right-of-way North & South and still have vertical posts so can not drive in either direction behind fences. Thanks for keeping us informed.

Wow 2004, that takes me back to simpler times as a young whipper snapper and that summer was the first year that I've seen a tornado with my own eyes, talk about freaky stuff and being paranoid. As for this it's amazing how 16 years can change an area so drastically.
@railrol824 жыл бұрын
That's one of the items on my bucket list. I've always wanted to see a tornado up close. I'm a severe weather enthusiast. Every time a hurricane makes landfall in South FL, I try my best to be there to see its outer bands. Thanks as always for your views and comments!
@Computist404 жыл бұрын
@@railrol82 It can get rather intense, we had a nasty storm last July that had hurricane force gusts, no tornadoes, but just an insane amount of wind. I can send you a video link on that from Appleton city cameras. We didn't have power for about 4 hours by me, but Appleton was much longer.

You would think they might consider leaving the track in place and pouring concrete between the rails. Forms and base is already in place. Instant walk/bike path for folks. Nah, makes too much sense! Great archaeological work Roly! Stay safe! Cheers, Danny

There’s an old spur line that used to connect the B&O Railroad from Hagerstown to Brunswick (MD) that suffered a similar fate-after the decline of passenger service and building of state and US highways across the line at various points, the majority of the line is nothing more than railroad grading and old bridge foundations. Part of the line still exists, but only as a single track whose current terminus is the scrap metal recycling plant on the southern edge of the Hagerstown zip code (I think;I have to double-check the map). The last train station on the line was demolished in 2006, and talks of making the line a rail trail stalled out several years later. I’ve followed it both in my car and on a topography map, so I can tell you where it was/is. Maybe sometime I’ll make a video series about it. At any rate, it’s sad to see rail lines disappear with barely even a trace left to show their existence, but it’s heartening to see that you care! Thanks, Roly!

Thank you for the follow-up on this line. It is interesting to see what things look like today. Is there fencing to block access to the Right of Way at the next road crossings north or south of this location? Thank you for sharing this with us!

Thomas- Yes, there is no access at all to the ROW. It is fenced off at every single crossing. The only access is the 1st video l did on this series, which is the section next to the canal that has about 100 feet of still in place with trees growing through them. It's crazy to think what was once a thriving active railroad then 10 years later it goes POOF gone. In my town there used to be an entire freight yard in my town 40 years ago and u go there today and you won't even know it was there. I wonder how many railroads will still exist like 30 years from now, cuz it seems like every other year there's just more abandoned railroads, hopefully I'm wrong but we'll find out later

what kind of pollution? and where? you would have thought that they would have posted warnings? besides fenceing
@TheSchizoTrollinator4 жыл бұрын
I think it is because they don’t want to be responsible for a injury across the fence saying something like “if you cross and get injured it is not our fault because we already had the fence there.” But still they should have a few more signs
