🛑 So then what does Ambroxan smell like? Ambroxan is a synthetic note discovered in the 1950s to replace the use of the very expensive note of Ambergris. Ambroxan is a very long-lasting, very complex synthetic note on its own and in fact, it’s so complex there are a few fragrances out there that use the note of Ambroxan on its own as a whole fragrance. I personally find Ambroxan to have the characteristics of musk, amber, salt and woody notes all rolled into one. I find it quite choppy and course with the experience of wood shavings and I do not find it as smooth as other popular synthetic notes like ISO E Super or Javanol. Ambroxan is typically used as a base note in fragrances. 🛑
