I did it last night for the first time, alone on my couch, thinking it was probably another useless dead-end that won't help my PTSD, but desperate enough to try it. *WOW*! I found a spot that caused an intense tightness in my lower abdomen - like an electric current was clenching my muscles - and then my legs starting shaking violently and uncontrollably for about 15 minutes! I know this is a fear response and have tried TRE before to no avail, so I tried to relax and allow it to happen...today my intense back pain has almost gone for the first time in many months! I had no idea the tremors were a possible effect of Brainspotting, so it wasn't in my imagination (I nearly said psychosomatic, but that's exactly what it is, technically, I guess. This obviously works at some deep level of the nervous system and shook something out. I am absolutely shocked and thrilled at the potential of this healing method. I have tried >10 methods to work on myself, but none have worked so far, and a layman like me can't understand the subject like a professional can. This is absolutely incredible, I can't wait to uncover some more buried "treasure" and get my life back. Your videos are really helping me to understand this, a thousand thanks for providing this information for free here Matt, I don't have the means to get therapy, but this is so simple and powerful that I can do it myself (obviously it would be better with a pro, but I felt it work so powerfully last night that I can intuit that this is going to clear out the trash and let me heal with other things like breathwork, mindfulness, inner-child work and plant medicine. Cheers from England Matt, may you have a wonderful day.

@@Asmir_pasic sorry I don't remember, but there are plenty of videos about it on here, it's pretty simple. I had another bad back this week and I couldn't get it to work this time. Search for TRE as well, similar. Good luck!

Today I tried this for the first time in the middle of an emotional flashback. It felt like a million thoughts at once and then I physically almost dry heaved trapped emotions out. It felt like a huge release. Thank you for this video. I will try it again

Thanks for sharing that Madeleine Clatterbuck. Physical reactions are common with brainspotting. All the best with your healing journey.

Thank you for describing the different possibilities of what one might experience during a session. I had colors and strobe-like visuals and sensations today when I was in session with my therapist. It was interesting to say the least and almost felt similar to drug induced hallucinations. It wasn't scary, it was different and each session is very different as you mentioned. I also have been exhausted a few hours after a session, or sometimes the next day and have actually slept for 12-16 hours. I understand this, for me, is part of the integration/healing process.

Hello Matt, i tried it on myself and what happened is that i experienced a fog or clouding around the pin point, the point i was using on my pen was very clear but around it became very foggy - have you had this before? thanks :)

I just did my first brainspotting session with my therapist yesterday morning. The fogging/clouding filled the whole room for me. I just kept focusing on the pinpoint. Then other images were popping up but they were cloudy. It was such a crazy experience, I definitely want to try it again. When you tried it on yourself were you holding the pointer or had it set up?

Can you feel like you are reliving the experience of trauma that was cleared during self administered brainspotting session? As in later on in the day?

Hi Andrea, great question. Yes this is possible. Brainspotting processing can continue for several days after a session. It's really important to have support and the capacity to ground and resource when processing trauma. This can be challenging when working alone. I advise working with a professional in that case. Thank you 😊
