Matt- you, Trev & Ed did a great job getting my 'burban out of that mud. Since then I replaced the tires, have more aggressive tread. You guys were super! I think you guys oughta do a video of the Morvair tackling the Hanging Tree Trail. You'll enjoy it!

That's good to hear Carl - if you have watched very many of Matt's videos, you will know that one big secret when you are in those conditions is to air down the tires for better traction. But I would get a better/higher-capacity air compressor so that you can air them back up for the highway trip home. I have the same vehicle in the GMC flavor.

My family and I were hunting for fossils and shark's teeth on a Chesapeake Bay beach. A local waterman showed on of my sons "Leaverites." My son, about six at the time, got the biggest kick out of pulling his brother, sister, mom, and dad in on the leaverites, one-at-a-time. The old guy and my boy were quite proud of themselves.

I had a 2000 Ford Explorer Sport ( 2 door, 2 wheel drive, short wheel bed, truck body.) I bought it in 2003 after talking to a lot of EXPLORER owners, not people who want to slam Ford. I grew up in a GM, mostly chevy, family ( 1st car was a 68 327 camaro) I would have killed for one of the pre 2003 4-runners, but couldn't afford them. I put on 245,000 miles of in city stop and go driving over a 5+ year period. I had very little problems until the end took a toll on the transmission at 285,000. If I could have done work on it, I would still have it. It was fantastic! Hardly any repair work, it acted like a 4 wheel drive wanna be ( I was smart enough to know limits), could make u turn like it was a LeCar, had a great sports package. I loved it!

What a beautiful SW USA sunset on that last one! The "four corners" states have the BEST sunsets because of either the dust particles and/or the moisture particles in the clouds in the air on a partly cloudy and slightly windy day like that! I know from personal experience living in 2 of them, Colorado and New Mexico, and visiting Arizona... now I just need to get up to see the awesome looking sunsets in UTAH some day soon too!... And if I ever get a vehicle capable of actually (safely) exploring the Utah wilderness then I'm definitely going to go see it someday! You guys get to work in such a beautiful area of the country, with such wide open spaces and awesome views! You are very lucky to have and be able to do that! At least you're not "stuck" in some boring office cubicle job somewhere, where you don't even get to see daylight the entire workday! I really feel sorry for those people when I see work being done like the adventures that you all get to go on! I'm kinda envious!

Please never change a thing you are doing on this channel! Found your channel about 2mos ago while watching another glitzy truck channel (also based in Utah). You: no fancy trucks; no staged drama; no 10 min "informercials" about hair growth products; just honest hard work in a respectful and naturally entertaining presentation. The other guys: boring, haven't watched since finding you!

The brothers show is still cool. But this is more real life, real situations , non actors type show. It's like comparing apples to caviar. Your not in the same boat at all. Matt is more working class and don't have millions to blow . Plus that's just not Matt. I watch both channels. It's all good people motivated to work hard and enjoy life. You got to admit the fancy cranes and tow trucks on the other channel are awesome machines. Watch Whistlindiesel. He knows how to treat fancy trucks right!

Hey Matt, The Morevair needs an air compressor and storage rack for your tire tools and other gear. I spent 16 years in towing & roadside assistance, a rig like that would've been handy more than a few times. Last four years I was in that field was as a coowner in a AAA battery service company. We had 3 mini vans and an F150 in our little fleet - each had a compressor wired up in the back, plus a crib for the assorted tools. A tray for the floor jack (we used the large racing jacks, 2.5 or 3 ton primarily) so it wouldn't bounce around. You can fab something like that real easy from angle iron and make it two layers - one for the jack & tire tools, top side with a tray for mounts for extra fuel / water cans, your ropes & other recovery gear. It would be a tad safer with the rough roads, and keep gear well organized, and you know how valuable an air compressor is. Plug in compressors suck. Great content, you guys are a great crew and its terrific to see you literally go the extra mile for your customers. Gives tow operators and companies a better name than we traditionally had!

Matt, you should add an onboard air compressor on both your Banana and the Morrvair, not only to be able to repressurize your own tires after a job for the highway again after having to air them down on a trail during the job, but you could then also use the onboard compressor to much more quickly air up a customer's tire after the rescue if they needed it!

Cool video and great channel. ONLY thing I would add is some brief tips in each situation (can even be conversational) about how to handle that type of terrain (mud, sand, snow etc.) or what the owner of the vehicle might have done differently to not get stuck. Whether it's different equipment or whatever, that would be interesting and helpful. And yes, I get the concept that "If he did that, he wouldn't have new customers." Trust me.... enough people out there who aren't watching this channel to keep him busy for YEARS.

Matt you should really just add an ARB dual on board compressor to recovery vehicles. Easy to wire up, and can fill a tire in like 30 seconds. Plus you will no longer need to go to a gas station to air back up. Even if you didn't want to wire it in for whatever reason(you really should though) they sell ones that come in a hard case with alligator clamps that attach to the battery. Then all you carry is a coil hose and air chuck. They have enough CFM to run air tools continuously if need be too.
@geepeerces
@geepeerces 2 жыл бұрын
there's not any room *under* the Banana OR the Morrvair for that (remember, both are heavily reinforced unibody with long-arm suspension), so they'd have to be IN the trunk. I suggest instead, one of the larger portable Viairs like a 300P or 440P... The 440P will inflate a 37" 0-30psi in 5 minutes, and has enough duty cycle to do all 4 before it needs a cooldown. comes with a nice carry sack, and everything you need. won't be as fast as the ARB system, but it will get'er'done. (I carry the relatively small 88P in my truck for emergencies, its slower but yah, gets it done!)
@TrekkerMoto
@TrekkerMoto 2 жыл бұрын
@@geepeerces I'm sorry but there is way more than enough room for an arb dual compressor in both rigs. They are tiny. Most people just mount in under the hood anywhere they have spac, or under a seat, or on top of the rear inner fender. THey take up almost no space

How about a compressor run off the engine on a pulley. Probably room for that.
@TrekkerMoto
@TrekkerMoto 2 жыл бұрын
@@j_rainsgoat3929 honestly they work better but take more room and cost waaaay more. The cheap way to do an engine run compressor is to add a second a/c compressor and use that as an air compressor but you have to have a tank for those. (That’s what I have on my heel)

So funny hearing Ed say leaverite. Haven’t heard that in over 50 years. My uncle was a prospector/rock hound and he’d take us kids scouting for gems in the Mojave desert. We’d see sunlight glitter off some quartz and think we’d found something big. We’d grab that glittering gem and run up to my uncle saying, “Look at this one uncle.” He’d take the rock from us and examine it all the while saying, “Uh-huh, uh-huh…that there’s a leaverite. Ya’ leave’r right where ya found it,” as he tossed the stone away. Aww…great memories. Thanks Ed.

I found this channel the other day and I fell in love with it. I noticed your Corvair make over. I owned an original 1966 turquoise in color. I loved that little car. A drunk hit me in the side and I couldn’t keep a starter in it. Had to trade it. What you have done with yours is fabulous. I know that I’m to old for this stuff but I still enjoy watching it. My kids really love getting stuck and then trying to get out. My oldest son is a semi driver and he has a V12 truck that he keeps at home. Next son, well if he gets stuck, he gets his tractor out and pulls himself out. I guess I was just born to enjoy this stuff. I still get out in the snow and ice just to see if I still have it, I do. I would love to ride with you guys but I am sure that we are miles away from each other. Anyway, great going. Have a Merry Christmas

Seems like I remember when Robert Nardelli, Rick Waggoner, and Alan Mullaly were in the Senate Subcommittee hearings. Mr. Mullaly was the only one that didn't need to ask for money. I don't know why ANYONE would bash Ford when Chrysler has been bailed out TWICE and the fine folks at GM got 60 BILLION (that's with a "B") dollars of which they didn't pay back 11 BILLION (that's with a "B" as well) Yeah, Ford has problems; if I bought a GM or Chrysler it sounds like I would have MORE problems. Great video!

Making me miss Southern Utah so much. I went fishing out at Panguitch once a decade ago. That was when I first learned what Tiger Trout were. Didn't manage to catch one that day though. I actually finally caught my first two in the same day at an alpine lake here in Colorado finally this last fall. They were much tinnier than the monster fish in Panguitch though (no scuds in the lake I was fishing).
