So I've been questioning my gender for quite some time and I'm still pretty lost with what to call myself. I was assigned Female at birth, but I like going by the pronouns he/him they/them and it/its (I like switching from one to the other every now and again). I acknowledge my femininity and accept it, I still like dressing and appearing feminine but I don't identify with it. I've been looking all over for an identity to call myself and nothing really seems to fit, until I discovered Genderqueer. Due to the things I stated earlier would I actually be allowed to identify myself as genderqueer, cause I've been through some sh*t with the some ppl in the community due to the things I've stated before.

You are absolutely allowed to call yourself genderqueer! There isn’t a criteria you have to fill or boxes you have to tick, if it fits, it fits 🧡

I now know more why I subscribe to your channel max! It's been mainly about deafblindness & other disabilities! As we both have them! But pride month gives me a chance to know more without feeling out of place because I could not work out the different names for sexual preferences! I just called myself gender confused! Then am I non binary! But you saying about being genderqueer! I don't see myself as the gender I was born with! If I was 18 again I am almost certain I would have the complete transition to being a woman! I may be a man by name or looks but that's where it ends! You made an interesting points,or a few! You may still wear skirts or grow facial hair! What helps is you can look like a man or woman! I look and sound 100% male! I do like lacy lingerie but it does not make me perverted! I hate hiding who I really am for fear of the abuse I have got over the years! I don't have a sexual preference for a male or female! But I am happy to be known as genderqueer! I did not know what the colours meant on the pride flag! Thank you max for explaining things & opening my eyes to who I really am 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🧡🧡🧡

I identify as non binary, But I don't like it because it seems so, conforming. Like, it's so serious. I want my identity to be abstract and not have so many rules. With non binary the community make it seem like you need a flat chest, a completely new name, and you need to look beautiful ever 2 seconds. I just want to exist. And some people seem to really hate gender. And the community makes it seem like it's out to get me. But I never minded gender. It just didn't fit or satisfy me. So I'm non binary. Is gender queer a thing for me? I like how it's pretty general it terms, and everyone who is gender queer looks totally different. Are there a lot of boxes to fill? Cus I hate having to pin point ever feeling I've ever felt about gender just to be included. I just don't like being a boy or a girl simple. I like being both, without having to switch between them. I like being a person and not having my identity follow me around and make me who I am. Or decide for me if I want boobs, or a deep voice, or a beard. 🤲🏻my shit to give pls help me

Genderqueer could definitely be the thing for you! We are a really diverse group, with no boxes to fill other than "not fully identifying as solely male or solely female", that's the only box, and even then it's a pretty flexible box, as genderqueer men and genderqueer women also exist. The nonbinary community definitely can have a problem with making it clear that it's OK to just be nonbinary without having any boxes to fill, but the only parts of it that get publicity, or become popular, are the parts that appeal to the binary, or the binary's interpretation of what nonbinary should be. We are a small community, so we can't boost ourselves, and a lot of our views come from cis people or from binary trans people, and they tend to gravitate towards and watch the people they perceive as "good nonbinary" rather than a diverse group of us. I made another video, which I can't put a link to because KZbin is weird, but it's in my queer stuff playlist, about "can you be nonbinary if..?" and that encompasses the genderqueer identity too. But long story short, you can be genderqueer if anything, and you can be nonbinary if anything. I'm sorry your experience so far hasn't been so accepting ♥

I went over and skimmed your “Can I Be Nonbinary If…?” video (skimmed because I was looking for one answer in particular)- I may have missed something about genderqueer, or the question I have may have an already obvious answer, but it’s just nagging at me a lot. Can I be non-binary _and_ genderqueer? My personal definition of the two is that, I’m non-binary because my gender is neither male or female, and I may be genderqueer because my gender fluctuates sometimes while remaining non-binary, and it’s hard to label it any further than broad or umbrella terms. Is that okay? I know there isn’t a “wrong way” to be genderqueer or non-binary, I would just like to know if those labels could work in tandem.

Yes of course! Genderqueer sits under the nonbinary umbrella for lots of us (but not all of us, it’s just personal preference)! I often use genderqueer and nonbinary interchangeably depending on who I’m talking to, and what I’m talking about 😊

okay I am an AFAB person and I had been questioning my gender for a little bit while now and is kinda confusing maybe its just me experimenting with pronouns and gender expression but yeah-- I'm feeling okay with being called as a girl now or idk how to explain but a few days ago I was feeling good with he/him pronouns again since I portrayed looking myself really femenine with a dress meanwhile acting more confident (kinda different scenario than the first time) and feeling good when they things like ''handsome'' or just using masculine pronouns so idk how I feel rn its weird the things I portray myself its weird how I see myself sometimes I dont even know if I'm using the words correcting probably also my probably pronoun fluid self but at the same time its okay and I dont have to label everything But its insteresting i just had been called a girl my entire life and went along with it but I wanna try something new I wanna try be more things outside the box I was put and its confusing getting to that point but I just really want to explore myself more to be atleast try be a little bit more outside of the binary, gender queer seems fitting to me but I guess I'm kinda scared of being wrong even though I know its okay if I'm wrong but yeah at least that's what I felt in these past few days
