What does IC and OOC mean in Roleplay?

There is a lot of shorthand used in RP which can make things very difficult for new players. In this first video of a series I'll explain two of the most common, IC and OOC.

No not necessarily, but they could. There is no right or wrong answer. Delving into WHY this particular character has an issue with one person is a great way to start. That's a great way to proceed. The point is to keep it in character and use it to help steer the story, not treat it as a personal thing.

This kinda sounds like a separate issue to me but one that might be good to talk about in a future video. I'm not really talking about a one sided conflict, both gangs are in conflict in this scenario, it's just that one character in particular seems to target you. I'm also always going to assume that that other person is RPing to a high level, so they have a character reason and motivation for this targeting. So rather than feeling it's one sided and unwarranted and personal, you should lean into it and look at how to add to that RP and use to to drive your character's story. By diving into it and moving from just violence to conversations, maybe you find out that a previous action of your character lead to something that seriously affected the other character, who now blames your character. Or maybe when they admit to something like this, it's learned that they thought something was your character but it wasn't and suddenly the whole conflict could get turned on it's head. Everything that happens in game (action, dialogue etc) is an "Offer" in improv terms (something else I'll talk about in future videos) and you want to accept that offer and provide your own. Lastly, maybe it's just me but I personally love a good underdog story, where we follow the character who seems least likely to succeed or win, but they fight through to overcome seemingly impossible hardships.
