Lemak in the word Nasi Lemak does not means "Fat" literally. But, "lemak" is the rich taste of coconut milk. You can actually add cow milk to give the taste of "lemak" in the curry. Although. The proper way of cooking curry is to add coconut milk.

For the nasi lemak right, actually translate as "creamy rice". Same as 'gulai lemak' = 'creamy curry(?)'. Why from lemak translate to creamy? It bc lemak got 2 meaning, fat and flavour(general talk). Fat: lemak lembu ini lebih banyak daripada isinya- this cow meat got a lot of fat than the meat Flavour: jika suka rasa berlemak, tuang santan lebih sedikit didalam kari ini- if you like the creamy taste, put more coconut milk into the curry.
