From then on I was totally turned off not wanting anything to do with WT.

Being a new publisher in a congregation that had a large library of original WT publications was exciting! My zealous desire was to read as many of them as I could to learn about the rich spiritual heritage of "Jehovah's Organization"! Imagine my surprise when I asked our PO if I could borrow one of them and was told "No. There is no benefit to reading any of those. Just focus on the current publications and your bible." 😯 I eventually learned the reason for that admonition.

I left 20ish years ago. I still defend publishers as there are some wonderfully kind hearted individuals who really love GOD, but I don't defend the organisation. I enjoyed the older generation more. They lived through WW2 and understood more about life than anyone. It's sad it's got to this. I think about two years ago the organisation deleted about 50 publications from their library. I was searching for the Revelation book but I found out it has gone. Thanks for this. Good video and respectful.

This video makes perfect sense to me. But I’m not certain the governing body or witnesses in general feel they are lying. Every witness I knew/know, feels that the GB attempt to provide the “spiritual food” under prayerful direction, so if due to imperfection this doesn’t quite work out long term, they are given an automatic pass, it’s not a lie, at the time it’s what they “honestly” believed and the fact it became a “lie” or manifested not as described was not intentional. I’ve been told things like “why do you expect perfection from the body?” “They are doing the best they can” or “yes they are only imperfect humans doing their best and the light gets brighter” - always an avalanche of excuses are made. It’s very hard to find a witness that would say they are liars. I agree human element is present but I agree with Brother Eric their inability to humble themselves on past issues that can effect peoples faith is very troubling.

@@firstname8348 I think you can disagree with them. You just can’t spread your thoughts to others or else that causes divisions in the congregation. Before baptism you answer questions and two are about the governing body and faithful and discrete slave, so if later you take issue with them, you are going against your baptismal promise and hence disfellowshipping can occur. They have all bases covered and you are cornered. As for their magazines, I think they have gone so far “beyond what is written” as per scripture. When you think about the 12 commandments, look how far they’ve drifted from just that. For me to be a witness, I had to become someone I didn’t like. I progressed far in the organization and at a point I asked myself as an honest man becoming more aware that I’m being lied to, involved in lies, and invariably expected to lie, do I keep going and become like them, or remain honest. I didn’t throw Jehovah away, I just threw JW away and I paid for it and I’m still paying. Isn’t it funny, the bible says “vengeance is mine says Jehovah” but no, vengeance can be dished out daily from JW. Cross them and you’ll see.

@Mr Gordy. It all depends on what Freemasons think about deception. I think they use the word 'craft' to talk about deception they foist on others to keep their secrets and their power over others. The majority, if not all of the GB are Freemasons. I've seen the pinky rings on a few of them. One ex-witness video recently said this, referring to a picture of the GB all singing together. I couldn't see their hands and the picture was too small, but she may have had other information I didn't. I think the GB DOES deliberately deceive. They allow subliminal stuff into their publications and have for years (and they disfellowship those who bring it to their attention). It took them over a decade to remove a penis (trying to pass it off as a forearm and wrist) off of their paperback edition of their songbook. The apostle Paul talked about the hypocrisy of liars having a seared conscience, and the GB lies, and their hypocritical lifestyles (driving luxury automobiles, wearing Rolex watches, fancy suits, buying 100s of dollars of expensive liquor, etc.) belie their beliefs.

Very informative and your calm, clear presentation is very truthful. As an 8 year-old returning from the great 1958 Yankee-Stadium convention I was fascinated with reading the 1920's and 30's booklets by Rutherford. I liked the style of oil-painting illustrations. Yet in the era of Nathan Knorr, I was unsettled by Rutherfords aggressive and arrogant attacks in his literature. It only took me 40 years to walk out.

I asked her “did Jesus, upon his inspection, find the faithful and discreet slave class worthy of all of his belongings? Even though they got the events right but timings wrong. No answer. Have you studied the worldwide Church of God Eric? They had very similar teachings to the Jehovah’s Witnesses. In the 1980s they drastically changed a lot of their teachings and admitted that they were overzealous and made mistakes. The original leader had passed away and the new church leader admitted all of this. It was a similar change to when Rutherford took over Russell and eliminated a lot of Russells teachings. The JW’s will not do that, they are too proud. They will keep using the ‘light gets brighter’ as an excuse and they will avoid reading scriptures that exposes their MO

Hello Eric, I have found as I've watched your videos more and more that you exude truth, the true that I have always searched for. I was a JW and left after the generation of 1914 will by no means pass away was changed. I later sought to return ( for what reason eludes me) however, on discussing my return with the elders, when they placed me in another room to talk about me among themselves I coul hear one elder putting me down, it was at that point when I was thinking of the prodigal son returning as told by Jesus that the penny dropped completely. I new that there was no Christian love being shown, no forgiveness. I left never to return. In my heart and mind Jehovah never left my belief in him but back to the world I went, still believing but no direction. I watched Lloyd Evans, who has become an atheist but that was never me. After myself and my brother saw spirits manifest themselves to us when we were young we both know that realm exists. I have listened carefully and inclined my ear to your discussions and know truth when I hear it.

Some history behind the translation commetee 1969 etc. Their Hebrew & Greek education level. What was the real base for their "translation" as majority of JWs believe the JWorg actually ttanated from the original languages etc.. the major changes in later updated NWT including the kingdom interlinear Bible move from violet to blue issue and instructions to destroy the violet one etc.. you have just a great talent-gift to make a 15-30min video covering a topic with a academic precision and still understandable to all. Their advice is only based on what they teach , and their love is not a true love, it is only conditional on being in their organization. There would be no need to attack the brothers, they are indoctrinated by the religion. If you have issues, it should be with the organization as a whole and their teachings. Keep researching, keep looking, once you uncover everything they don't want you to know, you won't struggle anymore, because you will have all your answers and full total clarity.

You know that's an interesting thing you mention: How the organization never apologizes. I've oftentimes thought that myself, and I don't hear many people--even people critical of the Witnesses--broaching the subject. From the outside the organization does appear humble, but their actions say otherwise. Like last year at one of the assembles someone was delivering a talk--I think David Splane or Samuel Herd, now I forget whom--and he mentioned the child abuse that was being reported in the media. He said we could all rest assured that the organization has handled all child abuse allegations appropriately, and then he went to cast aspersions on the media and critics of the organization. That was not a Christ-like attitude to have. To emphatically state that the organization has never mishandled anything was a sign of hubris and not humility. It's also an insult to the children and parents of those abused. It's an insult to the journalists who are just doing their jobs and reporting it. They're worried about stumbling people with beards, but what about stumbling the victims of child abuse and reporters? Also, Morris' behavior at the liquor store quickly comes to mind. The organization doesn't issue a statement and clarify why Morris was there. Say hypothetically a Witness struggles with alcoholism, is bored one night and he Googles Tony Morris' name, and sees the liquor store video. That could justify drinking in that reformed alcoholic's eyes and get him/her started again. And of course the 1975 stuff you mentioned. They never apologize.

JW's have been rewriting history in their publications since the late 1800's. When i began to suspect that they were teaching untruths, i wanted to go back in history and read the publication that they were using for teaching back in 1914, to see if their teachings differed from today's teachings in any way. Twenty years ago when i left the organization, they were using the 'from paradise lost to paradise regained' book. In the late 1800's to the 1930's they were using a series of books called 'studies in the scriptures'. I found that every year that passed, and their predictions did not come true, they would revise the books for the following years. They have failed predictions for the years 1881, 1910, 1914, 1915, 1920, and 1925. For their 1975 prediction, they were careful because of their many wrong past predictions, and were careful what they put into print. But i do personally remember their bold 1975 predictions preached from the governing body at assembly's, from kingdom hall platforms, and from door to door preaching. Would a loving God really lie to us like that? Absolutely not! He never lied to us before! It's only men that lie.

However, after many years of brushing off inconsistencies as "New Light" I doubts about the GB and then the "Overlapping Generations" was the last straw. @@butziporsche8646, We've been on a parallel course. Strangely, the JW false doctrines never bothered me. But I was massively mistreated due to a nepotism factor. I couldn't make sense of it. Every effort I made for getting justice just compounded my status as a leper. I faded, except for Memorials. I got a college degree and continued into a Masters. I read Crisis of Conscience. Lol! Oh, wow!

One witness told me stop showing them things about the organization. I said why he stated I would commit suicide if I came to a realization that he was lied to and made a fool all those years. I told him knowing the truth would set him free. He ran away crying. So sad

Just imagine, go back about 20 yrs before the internet, JWs, or any cult may never be exposed as they are today. I think Praying for the enemy is proper. I don't believe the organization is a cult but has corruption and a lot of massive mistakes in the pass and definitely bad men. But the Bible speaks about the slave beating his servants which to me would be the corruption and man made traditions along with ect' it takes faith to hear videos like this. See so many hurt from people inside the org. It's sad because people like Eric do make sense but it's just too easy to attack JW and blast them for doctrines and what they believe is Truth. I Do not agree with everything they think and do but I see thier persecution in Russia and I'm very interested if the world's system concludes on attacking them national. To speak put may be one thing but to make a whole career on any religions mistakes is not something I think Jesus would approve off. The overwhelming majority of JW's I've talked to over the years are very ignorant of the the Watchtowers history and their founder, Charles Taze Russell. And those who have some knowledge of their history, disavow that they still follow his teachings and those of his successor, J.F. Rutherford - who BTW actually was the one who rebranded the organization known at the time first as "Zion's Watch Tower Tract Society" and then in 1896 as the "Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society" that came to be referred to as the "Jehovah's Witnesses" in 1931.

About 3 years ago when I started getting into religion and I went to the hospital, I actually prayed for Satan/the devil/Lucifer (whatever names he went by) and I prayed for Jehovah to forgive him. I must have prayed the entire 40 days I was in the hospital. I did not pray for Satan because I am his friend or want to be his friend, I did because Jehovah teaches us to pray for our enemies. However, my mom ended up correcting me when I told her about what I had did by praying for him and that he would repent, etc. and she told me that God never changes his mind and so that what he has planned for the Devil is set in stone, etc., do you think Jehovah will be upset with me for praying for the devil? I no longer do pray for the devil because my mom says not to and I understand that it can possibly lead to inviting him back around? I despise the devils actions and should have never prayed for him to begin with but I thought that maybe, just maybe he can repent too. If you managed to read down this far, I'm sorry for the long response and I don't expect you to reply... I know I may be just another crazy guy in the comments, but I prefer asking questions to REAL Jehovah's Witnesses and even though you no longer go to the Kingdom Hall, etc., I still consider you to be a REAL Jehovah's Witness, because that is what you are and what you are doing, you're just doing it in your own way and outside of an organization! My mom says that a lot of people at the Kingdom Hall hang out in cliques or groups (like the rich with the rich and the poor with the poor) and although that kind of stuff doesn't bother me, I do miss going to the Kingdom Hall and I really did feel love there, corruption, etc. aside! I was disturbed when I found out that they allegedly used a song by a band at one of their conventions and the band was called "Audiomachine" or something like that and on the album cover there was this demonic like creature portrayed on it. Whether it was intentional or not, I do not know. But it is still a bummer to know that there can be evil men or men with evil intentions at the forefront of all religions and even though most religions do have good intentions, unfortunately a lot of times there is wicked people running them (from all aspects and not just religion). Anyway, I just woke up a few minutes ago and I haven't even had my coffee yet but I am getting ready to do some Bible study and so I am excited! As for your other question, all I can say is that he listens to prayers and any prayer from a faithful child of God will be answered if it does not conflict with God's will.

I tried to make it to Gilead around the time (or just after) that Glass was an instructor. They wouldn't take me. When were you there?
