The pandemic caused a decline in guide dog partnerships, after puppy breeding and training were paused.
Lisa's household is one of more than 2,000 trying to help, in the hope of providing a blind person with independence.
One of her dogs, Fergall, is now ready for advanced training, so Lisa has to say a difficult goodbye.

Genuine gratitude to the trainers who put in all the hard work and patience in training these puppies to help people in need in the future. Feel their emotions when departing with the puppies. Their bond with these future guide dogs is visible🙏

Honestly everyone says that. But you have to remember these dogs belong to Guide dogs, they aren't pets. I am a puppy raiser and we've got a 6 month old German shepherd. It will be hard to let him go but we know he's hopefully going to be someone's eyes one day. It's so rewarding! I recommend it!

All the way up until it's time to say goodbye, forever, I could handle; saying goodbye would be like giving away my child. Those who do the raising deserve accolades to be strong enough to leave the pup, who is going on to help another needful person, and then gets retired, so the pup usually has, at minimum, five 'owners'; birth to six-eight weeks; foster parent to a year; trainer for a year; seeing/hearing impaired owner for a few years, then onto their retirement (or breeding) owner. Bless those with the strength to give up the pup for the greater good of mankind.

Hi there. The news in this case was that the pandemic contributed to more than 1000 blind and visually impaired people being left without vital guide dogs beyond investigating this, the journalism is investigating this, and telling the story through case studies and storytelling techniques this report actually led to a record number of volunteers coming forward, which innovate self was quite a big new story.

*Dalai Lama* ✍️🌿 _If someone greets me with a nice smile, and expresses a genuinely friendly attitude, I appreciate it very much. Though I might not know that person, or even understand their language, my heart is instantly gladdened. On the other hand, if kindness is lacking, even in someone from my own culture whom I have known for many years, I feel it. Kindness and love, a real sense of sisterhood and brotherhood, these are very precious. They make community possible, and therefore are an essential part of any society._ ─ His Holiness *Dalai Lama* ✍️🌿

Happy New Year2023 🎇 *Dalai Lama* ✍️🌿 _Time is always moving on. But the important question is whether we use our time well or not. Responsibility for doing so rests entirely on our own shoulders. In the West a sense of materialistic thinking prevails. In Asia, notions of compassion and non-violence relate more to our inner world. Generally, we observe physical hygiene to protect our health. However, we also need to cultivate a sense of emotional hygiene. We may talk about securing peace in the world, but we won't be able to do it without achieving peace within ourselves._ ─ His Holiness *Dalai Lama* ✍️🌿

*Dalai Lama* ✍️🌿 I have been deeply saddened by the conflict in Ukraine. _Our world has become so interdependent that violent conflict between two countries inevitably impacts the rest of the world. War is out-dated - non-violence is the only way. We need to develop a sense of the oneness of humanity by considering other human beings as brothers and sisters. This is how we will build a more peaceful world._ Problems and disagreements are best resolved through dialogue. Genuine peace comes about through mutual understanding and respect for each other’s wellbeing. We must not lose hope. The 20th century was a century of war and bloodshed. The 21st century must be a century of dialogue. I pray that peace is swiftly restored in Ukraine. ─ His Holiness *Dalai Lama* ✍️🌿 {28 February 2022}

They did used to do exactly what you suggest, and train dogs from shelters in the 70s. They found there was a higher rate of unsuccessful training and genetic conditions. By breeding through, it’s possible to know precise information such as genetic predispositions to health conditions. What happens in a dog’s very early life during the critical imprinting phase impacts how they act and react through the duration of their future lives.

Nothing wrong with breeding. They choose their dogs for breeding very carefully. They have to have the best health, best temperament etc. They use breeds that are bred for working.

The Spectator (Britain): America can use the atomic bomb, but Russia cannot The atomic bombing of Hiroshima, which Putin allegedly mentioned to Macron "to justify the possible use of nuclear weapons in Ukraine", cannot be considered a precedent, the British Spectator says bluntly. According to historian Francis Pike (b. 1954), America not only could, but must, use a nuclear bomb against the Japanese. Whereas Russia has no such right. But why? Pike's argumentation is stunningly effusive: it is because Japan was an "abnormal adversary" - unlike Ukraine. Let us follow the twists and turns of this gentleman's logic. ▪️ First of all, he explains, the U.S. has bombed Japan before - and nothing. For example, a raid on Tokyo on March 6, 1945, killed 100,000 Japanese. People were boiled alive in boiling ponds. "Was death by the atomic bomb more horrific than this?" - the author hypocritically asks. Second, the extermination of hundreds of thousands of Hiroshima and Nagasaki "served to end the war and save American lives" - and therefore cannot be considered immoral. ▪️ Well, third and foremost, "the problem is that Japan was not a normal enemy," says the Briton. Then he goes on at length about the "cult of death," the spirit of bushido, "kamikaze as the norm," and the fact that Japanese soldiers preferred death to surrender. In a word, those Japs turned out to be very unhealthy - they didn't want to surrender in any way. So it was necessary to bomb them. Twice. "Putin will have no such excuses if he decides to use his nuclear option," the British historian concludes, without revealing this thought in any way. ▪️ You don't know what's more striking here. The Hottentot morality of "we can and you can't"? The bias of a propagandist who did not mention a word about the defeat of the Kwantung Army? Or the complete disregard for the Ukrainian death cult? Ironically, however, this wild Anglo-Saxon hutzpah is working against Kiev. Since, according to The Spectator, Ukraine is a "normal opponent" unworthy of being the target of a nuclear strike, it means that it is not expected to offer fanatical resistance in the spirit of samurai, but rather a normal, quite ordinary and even commonplace surrender - as it is accepted in civilized countries. This is a wake-up call for the necrophiles of Kiev.
