So sad to lose Neighbours after all these years it has been part of my day since a teenager and I’m already missing it very much. Such a huge loss, not just for the fans watching, but the number of actors and crew that have passed through before going onto great things. As so many have said, it was the ultimate training ground for the industry, not to mention created the blueprints for shows around the world for how to continue working safely when the pandemic hit. It will be sadly missed, & is unfortunate that the Australian government didn't realise what an asset they had, and financed it in some way, once a television company partnership couldn't be found!

Do you know whether Home and Away are self funded? Channel 5 said they want to make way for more British Dramas but I wonder why they chose Neighbours to axe as both soaps are on the same channel. I heard that Hendrix's actor is due to star in a new British drama.

As much as I liked the finale, I don't think my tax payer money should have gone towards a show that has poor ratings in Australia (with the exception of of the finale which is was most likely due to it being the finale). I'm pretty sure the Australian Government has more important things to focus on like education, healthcare and helping small businesses than a soap that caters mainly to the UK.

For me Neighbours was a steady part of my childhood and followed me to adulthood, from the late 80´s to the early 2000´s. I stopped watching after that, not because I lost interest but because I lost access to the subscription-based network that aired it in my country. Looking back I think what drew me to the show was that I felt I was watching a story about characters I liked and cared about who lived in a country I knew little about and had never been to. Today I know more about Australia( hope to visit before I´ll be cancelled) but Neighbours was my first real exposure to the country so where I´m concerned the show has been a good ambassador for Australia. So thank you to every person that played a part in bringing this great Australian story to me on the other side of the world. Another part of my childhood is gone but the memories remain. p.s. I don´t know if it´s possible for you guys to do the same as the producers of The Bold and the Beautiful who are gradually releasing every episode on KZbin. I´d be surprised if at least episodes from the 80´s and 90´s wouldn´t get a lot of views and with all due respect to BAB I think generally speaking viewers love Neighbours more.

Such a very sad huge loss Neighbours is the best soap ever and what is channel 5 thinking of letting it go , it has a gigantic following and it the best thing on Channel 5 they need to get rid of all those old repeats they keep showing and get Neighbours back! It will be back for more than one day Katie. New Neighbours filming starts in the second half of 2023, with Amazon taking over the production rights. It will be broadcast on Amazon Freevee, Amazon's free to view channel. Most of the outgoing cast are making the comeback, although I did hear Sheila couldn't agree new terms, and so won't be back......

That's really positive to read your comment. I read that people in Australia thought Neighbours was "too white middle classed" to make everyone feel included? I think since Jason Herbison took over it had the best mix of characters of colour and LGBTQ rep. Sadly missed💔

Am both saddened and annoyed at the loss of Neighbours. Perhaps If we all try to increase the number of subscribers to this channel, view as many videos as we can, provide comments and hit the like button this would 1) show that there’s still an audience for Neighbours and we’re not going away and 2) provide us all with a like-minded community. Can’t understand Channel 5’s logic at all……they apparently told Neighbours production team to improve the programme, then complained about the costs when the production values were improved. Also, Channel 5 state that they want to provide British made programmes instead…..I suppose it’s a lot cheaper to make a programme about boils being squeezed in a G.P’s surgery or someone cleaning a bathroom that hasn’t been touched in 30 years. Anyway, good wishes to you all.

Nobody forced you to watch it though, did they? Personally I'd sooner watch Neighbours than watch a bunch of snarling, argumentative, objectionable pillocks arguing in the Queen Vic......... Spitting Image got it bang on with their take on East Enders. The Phil Michell puppet was stood at the bar in the Queen Vic, and the barmaid asks "what'll you have Phil" and Phil replies "I'll have a blazing row thanks"..........
