Cream is better because you're more guaranteed to apply full coverage while with sprays the wind will blow some away and leave you patchy.
@Borednesss7 жыл бұрын
Can confirm sprays suck. Just used a bunch this weekend and unless you put the nozzle 1 mm away from your skin and rub it around, you will end up with a patchy sunburn that looks like a rash
@TheFabrosi7 жыл бұрын
alright, I'm sure this has been asked, but I went through a lot of comments and didn't see it. is the fact that getting a tan bad? I work outside and I'm constantly in the sun, and I wear SPF 30 all day and reapply after 2 hours. do we know if a "healthy glow" is actually healthy? or does tan always mean damaged skin? also. if you're tanned and wear less than 30 and don't burn, is that more skin damage? no skin damage? maybe a video on dispelling tanning myths would be good!
@jaclyn40985 жыл бұрын
I know this question is really old but yes, a "healthy glow" is still damaging and can still lead to skin cancer and skin aging that doesn't mean you should be afraid to get a tan, but you should be aware that with every tan or burn you're more likely to get skin cancer. You can read some updated statistics in this at www.skincancer.org/skin-cancer-information/skin-cancer-facts It sounds crazy but the only safe way to tan is with self tanners. But those are another story, as not all of those are the best for your skin with fillers and harsh chemicals etc. But good ones do exist.

This was a nice episode that hit on all the important points; however, I'd've wished that: 1) it showed UVA/B on a depiction of the electromagnetic spectrum (sorry, physicist here); 2) mentioned some reason why they have different categories (UVA vs UVB: what do they mean; how do they act differently?); and 3) said anything about the mechanisms by which various sunscreens are effective (again, mechanisms, I'm a physicist). What about "physical" vs "chemical" sunscreens? This episode boiled down to, to me, "wear SPF 30+ and reapply often."
@EliseLogan7 жыл бұрын
Surprised you didn't mention the difference between chemical sunscreen and physical sunscreen options (mineral sunscreens like zinc oxide or titanium dioxide) - since they work differently,and the science of those differences makes for interesting pros and cons for the two types.

Good topic, Olivia. Skin cancer is a serious subject. If you're lucky enough to only have the basal cell skin cancer, you only have to deal with the painful and disfiguring cancer removal procedures. Melanoma, though, is a lot more serious and can often be fatal. I've already had several skin cancers cut off of my face and neck and have had a bunch more spots frozen off, as has my father. My friend's dad has had a bunch cut off, including a big chunk cut off from one of his ears. I also have had one friend, a young 25 year old brand new mother die from melanoma. I work in a pathology lab and we get at least a dozen skin cancer biopsies every day. It's fun to sit around and joke about it until they have to start carving chunks of your skin out.

Pro tip. Wear clothes. Normally blocks 100% of light on places it covers. Also try staying inside. Guaranteed no sun burn. I hear if you cover the top of the water with oil it will protect everything underneath from sunlight. Curtains are also a good investment. Umbrellas work too Trees help.

If you're not swimming just wear a long sleeve shirt "NOT" cotton, There are a lot of sun protective clothing that are extremely breathable. With clothing you wouldn't have to worry about reapplying,mess, buying more, ect. Exp. Under Armour HeatGear but there are other bands. Even in summer it's important to wear layers

Or just be a socially anxious nerd like me and wear a hoodie wherever I go because I'm too self conscious to wear just a shirt, and then say its an alternative method to sunscreen.
