What Does The Dr. Disrespect Situation Mean?

The news has broke about Dr. Disrespect and the reason he was banned from Twitch. Allegations of him talking to minors were revealed to be true, which is one of the biggest stories to ever happen in gaming. All of it has had me doing lots of thinking about a wide array of ideas. this isnt the place for me to defend or codemn guy beahm the person. just my thoughts on this dark and disappointing story.

The thing about him losing relationships, losing product sponsorships and friends. That already happened 4 years ago. They treated him exactly the same as they are treating him now, for nothing but being banned by Twitch! No information of why he was banned or anything. So I feel like he paid his price back then. And lets not forget in 2017, he apologized for cheating on his wife. He took 6 months off. They don't have anymore Dm's or text messages after 2017? So obviously he's not a predator.. he's just a guy who did some stupid stuff like some guys on the internet and regretted it.

I will always stand on the side of internet freedom, I can respect people using the good old "think of the children" argument... But it is also a fact of life that with freedom comes responsibility. Honestly what is worse about this situation, none had taken him admitting to the accusations into consideration. Which it is much different than most youtubers who had been under allegations. Even if the jurors know he is guilty and what is actually going on, they legally can't say anything otherwise they will be put into prison for it.

Your view that someone who murdered at least one person and robbed at least one bank is a good person is.... challenging. A murder is arguably more than "a bad thing". I am absolutely sure the situation is nuanced, but it's incredibly tough to defend some actions. I imagine a vast majority of people would really struggle to say "He's a good person except for that time he murdered and the times he robbed". All that said, the 'wild west' nature of the internet definitely can create problems. Nevertheless, adults do need to take responsibility, both in the knowledge that it isnt regulated, and also if they are in a position of power. Because something is allowed by opportunity (or position), doesn't make it permitted.

If that is the case, you've done your friend a little dirty here, and made them seem worse by the omission of saying your friend was wrongly convicted. @@dqRoman This exactly. People do not seem to understand how to draw the line between justification of actions and empathy. This occurs both on and offline. Good and bad are extremely complicated topics, legality and society be damned. People can make horrific decisions with terrible outcomes, but ultimately pay the price and reform from said actions. Your friend, for example, hopefully will be released much sooner than when he is old. I do not believe actions that harm others are justifiable, but we can empathize and understand how and why people do things. I am sure your friend had his reasons. The amount of virtue signaling that occurs in our society now that we have social media documenting every inch of our lives is a little scary, honestly. Stay safe, great video.
