I found this video on the Green Bank observatories and their study of fast radio bursts fascinating! It's incredibly informative and helps me better understand the work being done. Please continue making more videos like this-it's really useful and inspiring. Thank you for sharing such valuable content!

This video is about the search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI) using the Green Bank Telescope (GBT). Here is a summary of the key points from the video: * The GBT is a radio telescope located in West Virginia that is one of the largest movable objects on dry land. * It is used to detect radio waves from space, which can be used to learn about the universe and the objects in it. * The video discusses the history of SETI and the Drake equation, which is a formula used to estimate the number of intelligent civilizations in the galaxy. * It also discusses the challenges of detecting radio signals from space, such as the need to shield the telescope from electronic interference and the fact that the signals are very faint. * The video then focuses on the discovery of fast radio bursts (FRBs), which are brief, intense bursts of radio waves that come from an unknown source in space. * The GBT has detected several FRBs, and astronomers are trying to figure out what causes them. One possibility is that they are caused by magnetars, which are extremely dense neutron stars with very strong magnetic fields. * The video concludes by discussing the future of SETI and the possibility that we may one day detect a signal from an extraterrestrial civilization.

Question: Why have narration if you are going to drown it with loud music?

They cannot balance audio anymore, its absolutely impossible. Some shows you have to crank the volume up to 100% and you still can't hear it well, then later you have to turn it way down because its blowing out your eardrums. Funny thing, I used to make tape recorder shows when I was 10 years old and was actually capable of balancing the audio volume. These people are supposed to be professional sound engineers with expensive schooling but under no circumstances can they possibly balance the volume.

Yeah, this narrator was actually a good one at one point, now she speaks very slowly and softly, almost whispering. Even speeding it up 1.5X faster is still annoying to listen to. I wish they would all just speak like you are having a conversation, not some oversold, over acted, over sensationalized script. It also helps when they actually use inflection and intonation on the proper words (that is relative and congruent with the point they are trying to make). When they add it randomly and all over the place, it is very difficult to learn new material because they keep putting emphasis on the wrong words.

The telescope at Parks, Australia is much bigger and can see the southern sky. The smaller installation from Virginia can not "see" over the southern pole.

I live in the South Colorado and last spring I saw in the middle of the night into the darkness a huge burst explosion that was about 4 times the size of the moon and only lasted about one second. . I tried to find a reasonable explanation. . So I think it could be a vortex or something.

any signal coming from space will be traveling not only through space but time relative to distance traveled ,,, meaning that where ever the signal came from the sender or origination of that signal is probably long dead ,,, so unless a signal is generated within our solar system looking for and finding is a real waste of time and money ,,,

Because our technology is electronic it can only measure particals that move at the speed of light or slower. We have learned there are particals that move much faster but we are not able to study them because of our limited abilities 🤔

I didn't watch the entire video; it starts out with misleading and dramatic hints that led me to conclude it would be a waste of my time. The Drake Equation is fallacious for many reasons, and, worse, misleading, as it leads one to think one has only to assign a probability to each event listed to calculate the probability of life and of intelligent life, and from there to calculate how many of us there are "out there." The thing is, those events are arbitrarily chosen. The fact is there are probably hundreds if not millions of necessary events to make us, and even if each has a probability of 99.9 (ain't gonna happen), the end probability becomes vanishingly small.

Yeah, ,why? Admittedly this presentation is a tad 'clickbait-y' (although it's far from especially egregious) and leads with speculation more than science. But banned? Really? You're arguing for censorship, and not only that but for material that's only marginally controversial. It would be interesting to hear why you think so.
