Brother Barron, Once again you've knocked one out of Wrigley Field! Love the Luke 24 chapter. Luke, the physician, knew the difference between death and life and so wrote of the "eating" to demonstrate this was a full blown, no ghostly resurrection. May God continue to bless you and your work. From one of your greatest protestant fans. The thumbs down folks are just grumpy.

Bishop, you are bringing hope back to those who've lost it. I learned about you from Jordan Peterson's podcast. You are thought provoking and believable. I was raised catholic in a family that didn't live it. Yet I've always believed and feared Christ. I've welcomed Him back into our home.

The fundamental question is do you believe in the connection of heaven and earth via the resurrection. I do. And to recognize that every wound Christ suffered was generated by something I have done. But He forgives and forgets my transgressions so as to have me a part of the Heavenly Reward for accepting Christ as the savior. Love these homilies.

Jesus Christ had risen from the dead in a living form of flesh and bones, spreading joy and a sense of relief in the hearts of his disciples.

I tell you this , brethren ; flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom Of God; St Paul ;1 Cor 15 verse 50 and with what kind of body st Paul asks in verse 35 ( same chapter.) There is a physical body , there is also a spiritual body(verse 44 same chapter.) St Paul says the spiritual body of Christ is beyond any description and is unrecognizable by any any earthly eyes. A spiritual body is a body completely and perfectly energised and animated and empowered by the Holy Spirit.

It is, indeed, important to not let the resurrection be watered down to mere symbolism. Jesus, in his body, truly rose from the dead! I love how this is the 3rd or 4th video of Bishop Barron in which he repeats these same lines. Because they have to be repeated, lest the Resurrection is turned into a myth.

So beautifully said Bishop Barron, "...we have an advocate... a brother who walked the same earth... breathe the same air... brought in the heavenly space..." and as this earthly brother Jesus once said... "...on earth as it is in heaven'. (Advocate... from the latin 'voco' meaning 'call' - We have a brother, the first born and ascended!).
@davidtauler27053 жыл бұрын
These are fantastic observations on the resurrection by Bishop Baron. I particularly love how the bishop pointed out Peter’s call to action. If the resurrection is indeed historical fact, as all the evidence indicates, we cannot be passive but we must respond with repentance so we too can share not just in Christ’s death as we die to sin but His glory as we share in His resurrection. Hallelujah for the hope of the resurrection that nothing or no one can take away!

Thank you for this homily.. even we Catholics need to be reminded what Christ died for, what the Church gives to us and helps us with.. to be Christ in-persona. Baptized 4-3-2021, I love attending Mass and our Rector, Fr Majewski & all our deacons have been coming at those whom attend merely to attend. Strong homilies that remind us of what Christ did for us. Even before being baptized, once I did a Mass out of curiousity, I was hooked. They are so beautiful and once I learned what occurs doing the preparation of communion.. my heart just.. it is my favorite point of Mass. It's sad knowing those about the cathedral are just 'there' doing their obligation. They are missing so so much. God bless you, Bishop Barron.

The Church was Saint Thomas, Abercynon, South Wales, UK. IESU BENDIGEDIG! (Wonderful Jesus.)

Great sermon! Jesus as the Word Made Fresh is the specific revelation (Good News / declaration) of the Christian ... in Christ there is not just iteration of right teachings, drive to justice, etc, but a complete fulfillment of the promise of right teachings, drive to justice, and love (agape). The resurrection is the divine vindication of Love Made Fresh.

So many are not willing/able to "enter deeply" into that which confounds....unless of course it's something really important like a university assignment or, what to cook for dinner. For those of us who have been granted the grace to do so, there are no words in this space. Once again Jesus has raised you out of this 'overwhelmed' state and called you to call us, ever forward. Thank you.

Thank You Bishop Barron for raising our minds and hearts to a higher level. Your point about heaven meeting earth is so important. In the gospel Jesus does tell us that Heaven , hell or purgatory begin right here on earth . Which phase or state your in is up to you. I think many or most Christians are stuck in a earthly purgatory because of apathy. Many Christians want to believe and hope but they are not that excited about putting the gospel into action.

The last part of the Easter Exsultet proclaimed at the Easter Vigil ( for non-catholics, this is when Catholics keep vigil after dark and read about God's wondrous works throughout salvation history) states, "O truly blessed night, when things of heaven are wed to those of earth, and divine to the human". In the midst of our joy the incomprehensible Lord shows us only the desire to share a meal with us. Let that sink in to those who would depreciate the table against the altar. The altar is a symbol of cost, of sacrifice -- but the banquet table and the feast of the Lamb is representative of much more. Oh, so much more. The height of Israel's obedience received a meal before the throne of God, and they did not suffer for it. Why should it be any different when our joy is also complete?
@marydean1193 жыл бұрын
This is your best sermon yet. Powerful! Helped me to connect all the important parts of salvation. The resurrection is how heaven and earth came together. How Christ's wounds were reflections of our sins and the need to repent. The connection between creation (the word) and the word made flesh. Then his eating fish with the Apostles = body & soul resurrected. Also helpful to understand Greek and Old Testament views of souls and death.
