What does the Safety Control Cable on my Lawn Mower really do? (Brake Cable)

Hey, Buck, best thorough explanation on You Tube about the operation and importance of this cable, brake, switch assembly. I have a Briggs Stratton 6.75 I've been fighting for years now starting and I'm sure the cable was slowly stretching over time. Thanks for this one, I'm sure it will save many mowers from the landfills!

Very easy to follow instructions, thanks for the guidance, ordering from Amazon has been a challenge to me ,cables are bad on a few mowers ,I just removed that tension spring and manually move the throttle lever ,and reverse it when I want to stop engine , 👍thanks .your mower won't be mad.

Thanks a bunch great video. My lawnmower crapped out couldn't tell what it was at first realize the cable snapped after careful inspection. So the motor won't start. Hoping that's the only issue as it was working beforehand.

Thanks, Bud. I'm not sure exactly what that spring is called, probably "Extension Spring" or something like that. Just go to ebay and search "lawn mower brake arm extension spring" and you'll find a bunch of them. Good luck.

What about the black cable in 06:12 at the squeeze handle as well? If you have a video of that then that would be greatly appreciated.

The other cable would have to be the control cable for the self-propelled wheels. The cable works just the same way as the other one, but serves a different function. Easy to replace it too, if you need to. But no, I don't have any videos on that. Good luck.
