In my opinion, Xsoleil was the beginning of the end of an era, a time where everyone in EN was still in EN. Sure, Mysta had already been considering quitting at the time, and Yugo was pretty much already on his way out, but at least we could still say "everyone is here". Then Xsoleil debuted and 1. If the Quality would be high, people probably can forgive the high shipping costs more. The upcoming Prism Cup is produced by Selen and Vox. Rosemi did everything for her recent cover. etc… The second issue could be merch. That's a real problem but by not buying or supporting you give no leverage to the talent to negotiate better retribution because : " well those don't sell so well so, you know, to keep making money and finance projects we can't give an augmentation on those percentage. Do better and will renegotiate." it's completely bullshit yes. But if you had worked once in your life in an entertainment company, of any kind, video game and movie industry too or worse in idol industry you've already heard that crap. In the company going to be ok. If nijiEn get close because people don't support anymore Anycolor don't give a shit closing it they will get immediate cash out of it. No the only victim will be the Talents and their supporters. The only way to counter it is by supporting the talent no matter what. Making them so important in the income that their voice and every protest from the public is a direct menace to the entire business. That's the only way to force a change in those kind of companies but it's harder with a Japanese company because they are not afraid to just hide themselves in Japan closings everything international to stop any bad advertising. So the more the Japanese public enjoying the EN content the more it will give leverage to the talent. Combination of those factors are the only way you can only way to get things the good way. Not supporting the talent because you don't won't to support the company will not do anything to the company only to their employees. Never forget that if you really want to fight an industry. They are prepared against boycott or things like that they have budget and insurance for it like any big companies they don't care
@dezopenguin9649 Жыл бұрын
I mean, the reason people are willing to overpay (in terms of merch price and definitely in terms of shipping) is their desire to support the talent. Learning how little the talent gets from merch sales just makes fans want to support them in more effective ways. And if there isn't that extra emotional factor then merch purchases just get determined by quality vs. price, and crap quality for high price = lousy sales.
@symester5o546 Жыл бұрын
In my opinion the best way for them to approach the business and merch problems would; 1) Buy a warehouse And 2) Allow for the livers themselves to come up with merch to pander to their own fans. Who better knows their own fanbase than the livers themselves? Fans aren't just attracted to the character model, they genuinely are interested in the opinions and interests of the liver themselves. Cheap acrylic stands and lazily designed apparel definitely won't cut it. I've seen countless Niji livers talk about their favorite artists, music tastes, fashion choices, hobbies, etc. If they allowed the streamer the creative freedom to come up with merch ideas that highlight THEM, I feel like the fans would be more intrigued or inclined to indulge. It could even be included in things like top tier memberships, it would both raise sales and popularity. That's just my opinion though, I won't pretend to know how a major corporation works or operates.
@symester5o546 Жыл бұрын
I'm gonna add on a little to this, I don't think the company understands that each liver has a specific demographic. With the select merch they have, it doesn't entirely appeal to that demographic. Someone whose a fan of Luca Kaneshiro for example could be a young adult, potentially in college vs someone like Vox Akuma who has a predominantly older working female audience. Why would small acrylic stands and tiny keychains or beanies appeal to an audience like Vox's? (Not saying it won't, but) there'd probably be a higher chance they would buy other products that appeal more to them. Probably things like makeup bags, tote bags, work or office equipment, or maybe even cookingware (because Vox likes cooking, an interest associated with him). If you compare the quality of their merch to the quality and creativity of merch you could find from fans in places like Redbubble, or Etsy, there's a very obvious difference! Bro....I've been thinking hard about this all day, but did they really miss their opportunity to have the Mysta Rias hat themed bookbag??? I look at the merch on the official store and not gonna lie, its not as bad as everyone is saying. But there's also a very clear japanese cultural theme to alot of them. Which might be different or confusing to new fans who aren't particularly familiar with the idea of merch like the Japanese fans, hair pins, or concept of voice packs. If any of that makes sense.

My issue is that Anycolor/Niji weaponizes their fanbase on their graduating talents. They basically threw Yugo under the bus with vague details about their graduation but made it sinister sounding so people were left with harmful speculation than the full picture causing some split between the community on the accusation of "Bad behavior" which that could have been ANYTHING under the sun. Essentially discrediting him on purpose and it felt incredibly malicious. Then you have Zaion who I felt absolutely terrible for, she had her name dragged through the mud on multiple occasions and Anycolor didn't care and even encouraged the onslaught of harassment with lies and overexaggerated explanations. The poor girl was getting DEATH THREATS and being DOXXED. Then the whole payment stuff and merch just solidified my disinterest in the company all together. I think I follow like a couple of my favorite talents but I'm definitely not watching them and its not out of spite but I cannot in good faith give my time or money when I know none of it is going to the talents and it going into Niji/Anycolors when they don't deserve as big as a cut as they get. Then it all just went downhill from there and I stopped watching which sucks but I don't want to give my money or even my views to a corrupt company that's willing to hardly pay their talents for their hard work and I don't think they can bounce back from this. They showed their true colors multiple times now and I do feel horrible for all the EN talents but at this point they would be better off graduating, create their OWN talent agency, and actually get paid properly and with their own dignity in tact instead of Niji just bleeding them dry unnecessarily.

In a highly competitive vtuber society, talents has to come up with new ideas from time to time to attract viewers, 3D model and collab with others are strongly support the talents to show their ideas. However, it seems Niji can't support EN talents.

Maybe they’re just burn out, maybe it’s just that the excitement of debuting calmed down or something like that, but it just doesn’t feel the same, they’ve lost something. Despite this, I still like them a lot, they’re still my favs and oshis, I don’t think they’re bad streamers or entertainers or anything, is just that it feels like they don’t like it as much as before, and you can feel it as the audience Edit: And yeah, I’d buy more merch if it had better quality and the shipping wasn’t as expensive as the item itself. I agree with the idea of opening warehouses overseas like in the US for example but also I think it would also be a good investment to allow major anime merch selling stores to sell official merch as well. I know kinokuniya already has some but from what I'm aware of (not a US resident but have friends that are), they sell a lot of goods that aren't all accessible to people that don't speak Japanese so branching out to stores like Hot Topic would be a good idea. Another option if signing partnerships with specific companies is not something they want, they could maybe have deals for companies buying large amounts of stock similar to what 100yen stores offer so local anime stores that aren't chain companies can sell them as well

@kurosumomo Жыл бұрын
A) They need to create merch that people want B) They need to price and distribute it accordingly, how hard is it to open a depot somewhere in US & Europe so Americans and Europeans don't have to pay tons of shipping costs? C) For the Japanese fans of EN, how about include the EN talents in the events over there in Japan and vice versa, half of the EN talents are pretty fluent in Japanese anyway, just send them over for concerts, games and all the other things, include them in yearly game events, do promotions like you did with WIXOSS TCG, Caffes etc. Include them in those things. D) It's a recession, most of the world is fighting with increased pricing on everything, people aren't as crazy about spending on little nick-nacks like they were before the recent situation. E) Non official merch is usually more appealing and cheaper, which brings us back to point A & B.
@citizenspaghetti Жыл бұрын
D, is likely the major cause. Especially for the US fans, shit is expensive here and it keeps going up the last thing Ima spend money on is a keychain with a 45 dollar shipping fee lmao. Sadly the Canadian EN talents are going to run into problems with overseas collabs now that Canada passed some bullshit laws effectively limiting the streamers to making "more Canadian" content. basically forces them to shill their own country in streams lol
@akira8393 Жыл бұрын
a. they do make the merch that people want. i think hololive makes more merch that people arent even expecting but at least it's very well made and they welcomed it. b. for the price would probably have something to do with the manufactures, i know how things are when it comes to printing. and yes it does come pretty hard, it usually takes months ahead. for nijisanji, i assume they take the shortcut ones that are like a little earlier and more efficient. c. i dunno really, that also depends on the talents as well, how often kotoka is involved and vice versa. e. non official merch is more appealing because it is made of passion or solely based on the algorithm of what people mostly like, if people like vox, they can just google it or make their own art. other stuff like local manufactures is a lot easier than places outside materials are pretty cheap if you make them yourself and my friend even makes them for a hobby. the shipping is the expensive ones but usually shopping apps can cover the cost for you.

since the merger there are no official niji kr or id branches and the streamers from those branches are under the main nijisanji branch, that's why those streamers are often referred to as ex-kr or ex-id

@@ryanbolt1841 well, kr apparently had some god awful management and from what I heard ex-kr streamers have adapted pretty well to being part of the main branch and are actually doing better than before as for id, that just what happens when you don't make enough money - that's just capitalism

@blairfujin well even though it was good for KR, ID suffered badly because of it.

Too many talents debut almost at the same time, making it difficult for them to build a solid foundation, especially since so many talents debut in a year Making their fandom experience bored, Just like you like eating burgers, but if you eat burgers every day, 3 times a day, after a while you will get bored, Added to this is the many dramas that occurred at Nijisanji EN, graduation and incompetence in management

That investor call/newsletter really lays it out. A lot of people would probably buy more merch if the personalities got a larger cut, because they want to support the personalities, not the company. But the company sees merch only from the benefit of the company. This news letter is not convincing me that management has the best interests of its personalities in mind. Sigh.

@@ausgod538 yeah a company with record profits that can't even spot their talents a couple grand for a fan contest organized for the talent's growth. If Anycolor can't shell out for their own employees then you're in no way getting a piece of that pie no matter how hard you gargle Tazumi's nuts.

@@biiyen8458 Livers aren't employees and its the default in japanese agencies to not give money for personal projects, anyone watching japanese agencies know that. VSPO, 774, React and even hololive works like this as well. Ask out there if your favorite holo got any money to pay for their covers, original songs, games and other things. They all pay with their own money, dumbass.

When they had niji merch available at animate stores in the us, that was the one time I bought a lot of it. And a lot of it was sold out. They should just distribute their stuff to media stores like that to solve their merch issue. I mostly only buy digital merch from their shop cause I don’t wanna pay $40 in shipping for a $20 thing.
