I love the humility and knowledge of this teacher catechist! The arrogance of many is missing and I love that. She is not highly critical or disrespectful in the manner of the comment of the person below this comment--their insult of the Protestants. This teacher in the video isn't insulting. Magnificent! Glory to God!

Coming to Orthodoxy as a Roman Catholic, I couldn't agree more. The Traditionalist Catholics vs the Post Vatican II Catholics is a neverending fight on who's more Catholic than the other, while both trying convert the other to their own interpretation of Catholicism - Do you believe in Tradition? Do you question the Pope? Do you stand by the changes of the Catechism or not? Do you agree with the Bishops pushing for modernizing the Church or not?, and so on. It's a contest of one upmanship, while both sides still claim that they are Catholic while complaining about the other, when it's clear that they can't come to terms on how to believe in the same things. In Orthodoxy, the priest that holds the Divine Liturgy down here in South America says exactly the same things I've heard Patriarch Kirill or Father Peter Heers or Frederica Mathewes Green say and teach. Even if they don't all speak the same language nor come from the same backgrounds, the Faith is the same. The Fast is the same, the Theotokos is the same, the Saints are the same, the Liturgy is the same in all but language (down here it's primarily held in Spanish, with some prayers also said in Arabic and Russian). If that's not Unity, I don't know what it is.

Great job Frederica! Ecclesiology in under 4 minutes! And you explained it so clearly, calmly. Thumbs up, this is a good summary to save and forward. (As is all the Theoria vids. Read the Welcome book too.)

Pope Benedict XV also says it’s about believing the same thing. Interior Unity is represented by external unity. Also the east has lots of doctrinal division-right now the Moscow v Cple schism is over ecclesiological theology.

Unity doesn't need to be imposed from the top-down by a single authority.

Federica Mathewes-Green, please can you do a video that explains what is happening in the Orthodox Church today (October 2018)? It is impossible for someone new to Orthodox beliefs to sort through it all and to understand who is right and who is wrong. There seems to be four groups involved: Orthodox Patriarch of Moscow, Kiev, Constantinople, and Ukraine. Accusations are flying around as well as excommunications. You have said that the Orthodox have no "Pope", yet the news states that the Head of the Constantinople Orthodox Church ("His Most Divine All-Holiness the Archbishop of Constantinople, New Rome, and Ecumenical Patriarch") is the head of all the Orthodox people in the world. If you want to interest me and other people in the Orthodox Church, it would be helpful if you explain why these Orthodox Churches are fighting with each other and perhaps creating a new schism. Thank you.

It’s not fighting, it’s just a political thing, Russia( Kievan Rus, that includes Ukraine)took Christianity after Constantinople Church in 988, and till early medieval ages was a daughter to Byzantine, and all Christian Church was One, but then Roman Church Pope wanted to be the Head of all Christianity, and Eastern countries didn’t want that, so they split to Orthodoxy and Catholicism, but after a while Byzantine fell and seek for help of Roman soldiers and became dependent on Roman Church and that time Kievan Rus Church declared autocephality and existed like that till 1990, when Russia, Ukraine and Belarus split to independent country, but they still was one spiritually, one Church, one people and slightly different languages due to west occupation some of the territories in time of Russian Empire. And when in 2014 was this war, because since 2004 was a rise of nationalism, and it peaked in 2014 and neo nazis government rose to power in Ukraine and started hating on Russian Speaking people( because you know, it was all good in Soviet era, free hospitals, universities, cheap organic food and quality of life was quite high(although it was prohibited to believe in God) ) and then independency, economic fail, oligarchy took power and started to rob people and nothing new was created and poverty and rise of nationalism ( who’s guilty in poverty? Of course soviet/ Russian government, not Oligarchs as presidents! =/)and then Crimea( majority of people are Russian speaking and Russian descendants) decided to join Russia, butRussian majority in the East Ukraine still exists, so neo nazi government started hating on them, but Donetsk and Lugansk ( I’m from there, btw, my father is Indian, hence the appearance) are defended by Russia, but not like Crimea, because they are not that useful, and this sanctions after Crimea, so conflict grew and now neo nazis want ABSOLUTELY be apart from Russia, so then Constantinople Patriarch granted autocephality for Ukraine Church( but no one asked him....and we still with our Russian and Belarusian Churches, because we brothers after all) and then neo nazi government started to press on Ukrainian Church and even created new heresy Churches...It’ s kinda complicated but we are one with our Russian Belarusian Churches and Constantinople are not the one to decide should we split or not, it’s our own business, not his

IN THIS VIDEO YOU MADE THE PROBLEM OF PROTESTANTS. IT IS THEIR TENDENCY TO PROTEST EVERYTHING. THAT IS THEIR NAME AFTER ALL. CHRIST IS NOT FOUND BY PROTEST BUT BY OBEDIENCE.

I am a Roman Catholic, a proud Christian (as you are too), but I am slightly offended by how you treat the Western church as if the Orthodoxy Church is superior to it, when in reality we are all but one Church. Still, I am really enjoying this series and want to know more about the Church.

Underground Skeptic We Orthodox Christians don't see our Church superior to Roman Catholic, but It may seem like that is the case because we are very proud that our Church kept almost all traditions, and it barely changed, while Catholic Church had many reforms and now is very different from Ancient Christian Churches such as Oriental Orthodox, Eastern Orthodox etc...

I'm not quite sure what you mean by that skeptic. What I can say is that unfortunately we are not a part of the same communion as our respective churches have quite a number of differences in belief. However, we fervently pray for the healing of all schisms that we may be one in our Heavenly Father

Heh, it's ironic because it was the ROMAN church that was stubborn and refused to listen! It stranded away from orthodoxy! Heck, it doesn't even seem "Catholic" anymore after the demonic Vatican 2
