im a beginner to this game and a lot of people say terms like "rec" and "ape" so can someone explain those to me?

Rec means to receive the ball, so when you left click to bump the ball, that's a receive on someone's spike. Ape is someone who spikes it without a setter, so usually straight after a receive.
