Just want to say thanx for putting these videos out. I know it takes time to put these up, besides the repairs you are doing, and then explaining them along the way. After watching numerous videos of yours, I see the actual build and know what to expect while I’m working on my coach. My advice to an RV owner, if you can’t do maintenance on them don’t buy one. It’s a life style, happy trails!

Very nice video explaining this. I saw multiple 5th wheel rigs on the Interstate yesterday and more than one had some ballooning, all seemed to be in the front except one looked to be ballooning down the entire middle right past all 3 air conditioners it had on it. We saw over a hundred in the 12 hour period started trying to see if we would see every manufacture that we knew. Thanks for the video. Glad your trip was fun.

I don't like rubber/TPO roofs. End of story. Period. I had to replace one on a 92 Prowler 5th wheel that was exactly 12 years old. The previous owner did not store the unit under cover. Good work, too bad it was not done right from the start. Keeps you in business and keeps the owners stressed if the product is good. This is why people worry about the quality of every RV. Too bad that the owner could not trust the dealer that sold the trailer to them. This should be an alert to Artic Fox as an issue for them and for their sales staff. Again, always good to watch you at work. It gets confusing however what sealants to use. I have a few more years to go before retirement and will be going with a Class A. Will definitely look for a good inspector that knows their stuff and proper inspection and sealants used.

AZ Expert great video ! We have an Artic Fox 25Y that was built prior to 2020 and we have had very few problems and nothing that I could not fix myself and I have heard many stories and have seen some issues for myself and we will never purchase any large capital item that was manufactured from second quarter of 2020 through 2022 because of problems just like this. I am very disappointed with AF that this has happened, but not surprised as all the RV manufactures suffered from bad quality and poor workmanship and my opinion of AF is not the same as it was when we purchased our AF 25Y. Because of issues like this we have delayed our purchased of a new RV until at least 2024. Using the incorrect screws in my opinion was just not right and some of the roof framing I hope was just a workmanship issue and corner cutting by the crews and this is not happening today. Very disappointed with Northwood MFG !

Its a great example why what often appears to be a small item can be so costly...There's a tremendous amount of time and effort expended on something that should have been overbuilt in the factory when access was easy and a little bit more glue and longer/stainless Robertson screws would have cost very little...It also demonstrates how each step leads to a next, more involved step time and again. If I was confronted with this challenge I admit that I would probably have considered a seam over the bubble area, re-glued with eternabond or some form of liquid sealant on top....

You need to grind down the end of the 1/4 hex sockets to remove the excess rounded part. Get a nice edge to fit the screws and they will work much better. I do that with all my smaller sized sockets. The extra little metal on the end of the socket prevents the smaller heads from fitting inside properly.

Question: If you were in the market for a good quality fifth wheel between 2005 to 2014 what brand would you buy and why? We figure since you fix these things, you've probably seen everything. We are spending between 20 to 30k. Currently on our list is Carriage Cameo and CW, Forest River Cedar Creek, Jayco Pinnacle, and Dutchmen Grand Junction. We have a max tow capacity of around 13,000 dry. No Newmar, most Carri Lite, and Royals International, unfortunately. Any other thoughts? Thank you. We just found you and are loving your content!

Thank you very much, overall most towables are made using the same components and methods as each other, so I'd judge it by condition floorplan and price. I like montanas, heartland, and cardinals overall. Carriage was the last non-standard builder. I do not like high tech LCD or remote control features on RVs.

Since you have to roll back roof to re apply adhesive? My experience is to treat the underlying wood with penetrating epoxy resin so if or when the future leak occurs the wood on the roof will not absorb any water and the repair won't need to include rotten wood.

From watching this channel for the past few years, I have gained the knowledge that very few (less than a dozen) rv manufacturers produce a robust and quality product. I fear that I may need to build my own rv, from either a monocoque commercial bus, or raise the roof on a Thomas school bus 😐 There is the option to searching for non-slide Prevost based coach, or a Newell. As far as a trailer, it must be based on a commercial moving trailer or a retired race team trailer with lift. What would you do?

James not many like to show their work. You do a great service to RV owners. Do you have a recommendation on a book or material that RV owners should read on DIY inspections when looking to purchase a unit of coarse besides having a professional inspector opinion. Is there a certification the inspector should have when we look for someone? Your work and knowledge is greatly appreciated, thank you. Anthony New Mexico

I have a similar situation on my TT with a TPO roof. Is it possible to repair it in the same fashion (Reattaching the existing TPO with the Dicor adhesive)?

I need a replacement of my rubber roof on my 27’ wilderness travel trailer. Where are you located and what would be a ballpark cost. Thanks

👍👍 Now, the roof is much much better than when it came out of the factory. Manufacturers way of cutting cost. Less glue, wood, screw, etc... Just enough to last through their warranty period. In this case, they miscalculated. Didn't last through warranty.

Well from what I see artic fox does pretty good job with the exception of that glue holding the rubber. Honestly what can be taken away with most of the rv roofs you do is manufactures should really have quality assurance or supervisors on the floor over looking the process of the build of the rvs start to finish. If there is someone that stops these guys from making mistakes like this I think quality and warranty work would be reduced significantly.
