No team has ever been penalised for flexing wings. The flexing back in 2011 was way crazier though. Remember the failed Ferrari flexi wing test?😂

@@F1Unchained its not annoying anymore when you understand the background of it. FIA testing are standardized tests so that each team can test their parts beforehand to know they will pass and be useable for the GP. As far as i can remember front wing flex is tested with a weight applied punctually to different areas of the flaps. There are many tricks. You can for example design a frontwing to flex less under punctual weight than distributed weight over the entire flap. this would pass the test but flex too much during the race. the accusations are done repeatedly to cause further investigation into constructers designs and keep them honest. the problem isnt that the accusations are annoying, the real problem is that the fanbase always picks up the accusations as serious and calls for cheating. you just have to understand they are part of the game and more often than not unfounded.

Don’t know how true it is, but I read somewhere that the fia monitoring the wing flexing is for next year not this current year. Take what you will from that. the flexing the FIA is looking for is at the endplates not at the slot separator, when a front wind flexes at the end plates bringing the endplates closer to the ground it creates a venturi effect which creates suction and helps in cornering at high and medium speeds corners which is not allowed.

If it's enough, I'm pretty sure a flexi enough front wing does do plenty, and I'm still convinced that is the case for McLaren. My take on flexing: either the FIA uses cameras to test the flexing before the season to see if any team is flexing too much or not, or they will simply rely on the tests they already do and not test mid-season. If the test exist, shows that it is legal, then it's legal. If it isn't enough and history tell us it isn't, then change the way of checking instead of always coming back to this topic. Mid season changes are super annoying, specially such a recurring topic. Apart from safety, either a piece is legal or not from the beggining, no need to change testing. Like the Mercedes front wing that were to be tested in Austin, was said to be legal but then after complains it was not allowed. Like, is it or is not? Decide it for once, FIA.
