I have lived in Memphis all my life and the rendezvous is a tourist trap. Locals don’t go there and the bbq is overrated. Interstate BBQ owned by the neely family is the best along with central bbq. Jerry’s snow cones is also a must if you stop here.

My favorite restaurants in Memphis is Corky's Ribs and BBQ on East Poplar (best BBQ chicken I've ever had). Burrell's used to be excellent but they closed. A friend of mine suggested The Pig on Beale although I've never eaten there.

O yeah. You have to go to Gus’s and then get a donut from Gibson. I live close to Memphis there several other places but you hit some of the faves. But really if u want some really good bbq from a old places the locals love going to Cozy Corner or Payne’s.

Lived in Memphis from 90-92 over by Memphis State, worked at the Dixie Cafem We served Chicken Fried Steak, Black Eye Pea salads, Peach Cobbler and hella Sweet Tea.

Yes BBQ is one thing you have to eat here... A&R, corkys, tops, BBQ shop, toms ... too many to choose from, then there’s chicken, Gus and now a bojangles both in Southaven, I’ll add Broadway pizza (broad st), d’bos or BJs hot wings and Celtic Crossing to the list

At Central BBQ you can ask for the nachos Yankee style, and it's fries instead of chips! I think it's a little up charge, and it's not on the menu, but it's my favorite way to have them!

Crime is all over the country!! Memphis is not as bad as media portrays it. Crime is not random but happens to the people or citizens who indulge in that lifestyle. All restaurants are open🤦🏾‍♂️mind your business and nothing happens to you and thats pretty much anywhere you go.

I have one do for you: Invest in a sea band, especially if it's your first time cruising and even if you've been on a little 1-hour boat ride out on the lake without getting motion sick. Believe me when I say that little 1-hour boat ride is NOTHING compared to staying on a ship for 3-7 days. I learned this the hard way on my Caribbean cruise honeymoon and had to rely on motion sickness pills that made me feel drowsy because that was all that was available on the ship.

The Original Gus's is in Mason, TN which is about 40 miles NE of Memphis. Some say the original location is better.

We don’t eat this way all the time. Most of us have garden at home. So we eat our own vegetables and can our on food. Also there are many restaurants that are vegan also severing local produce and plenty other health options. Just look on yelp when you visit my beautiful state. So please come when you can. We love visitors and we’re very friendly.

Why is it that the entire middle section of America has to conform to a fast paced, micro-managed, hypochondriatic lifestyle of the East & West coast's?, all it does is add stress. Most people in the Midwest enjoy life without the overbearing obsession of health or body image, and get nothing but grief from pop culture and the entertainment industry who want to control how people think and feel with an elitist east & west coastal superiority bias. We are all going die you cannot change that! The healthest man (Jack LaLanne) who ever lived in America still died at 96, unless you have the genetics of someone from Japan you most likely are going to spend extra 3 or 4 years that you gained through denying yourself any pleasure by just eating or doing what you like by not over analyzing everything will most likely be spent alone in a nursing home. Missing all of those wonderful experiences for a couple of extra years of solitude being cared for by strangers.
