Legit had a door salesman get so personal with my dad for 45min, that he literally almost made my dad change religion just by kindness. Edit: my dad is an incredibly insistent catholic, and the salesperson was a jehovahs witness, but he was selling another product, successfully. My dad is a salesman. It made him rich. I could never do it. I couldn't in good conscience. Your dad almost changing religion because of a salesman is ironic. It also says something about religious people. One of my dad's favorite topics with marks when he smells it. Then sports. If you talk to him more than once, you have a nickname. He's been in the pharma and home oxygen business for years. Basically he has gotten rich off the sick and dying. The American dream.. I love him but if I believed in such things, I'd wager whatever inheritance I would have gotten if he didn't piss it all away there's a special place in hell for him.

Everybody gets sick and dies and doctors make lots of $$$ from it but are highly respected. I am sure many people benefitted from having home oxygen. Every profession has good and bad people in it. Jehova's Witnesses try to change your religion. As do all missionaries. The persuasive skills of sales can always be used for good or bad. Perhaps you should ask your dad the percentage of people he genuinely helps vs fleeces. I hope you find some peace with your father, and also come to understand and find peace with the second oldest profession in the world.

We were having finals and had to wait, everyone was nervous except me, despite only being average in class. Here we are, waiting to take the test, before the door to the classroom. I've already done everything to prepare and there was nothing I could do at the moment, so getting nervous would have no effect on the grade, except maybe a negative one. I made it worse for everyone else, by being completely unmoved. People were complaining to me, because here was the most important test and here I am being calm, relaxed and almost bored. I told them, we wouldn't get the results any time soon and couldn't ifluence the results in the last minute. And wether we failed or succeeded, we would go from there and do things only after the fact. ... They didn't react well.

THIS THOUGH! I had a pretty bad carcrash 1 year ago, the car was totaled and 25 meters from the road. I just cursed and did a quick damage check to see if I was alright, which I was. Since everything was alright I just grabbed my things and left the car. The first few cars that passed freaked out and ran over to ask what happened. I just calmly said I was alright and that I was alone. I had lost my phone in the crash so I borrowed one from one of the first cars to stop. First I called my mom to come get me, and a quick call to work because I couldn't get to work in time. The last call was to the ambulanse/police, to just inform them of it. After all was said and done, I just left, kinda pissed because I was gonna sell the car.

The one about telling people by their walk reminded me of a story I saw on 60 minutes. It was about a blind architect. He designed a building for a blind foundation. In the office he put concrete floors instead of carpet because it is easier to use a blind cane on it. One of the blind people who worked in the office said he also liked the floor because you can hear people comming down the hall. He said he could tell who was comming down the hall based on how they tapped their cane. If someone came by that he wanted to talk to, all he needed to do was call out to them.

I don't think this counts but one time I woke up before my parents and started making breakfast in the kitchen. It was dark when I woke up and I don't like light in my eyes suddenly, so I was making breakfast in the dark with ease being able to see around me. I'm nearly the tallest person in the house so when my mum who I'm much taller than walked out to the kitchen, you can imagine the shock of this tall shadowy figure standing in the kitchen. She actually got scared when it happened.

I know how to do that, and I've never drunk a beer in my life. Comes from canning and needing to open the jars without damaging the lids. Once a lid is bent even the tiniest bit, you can't reuse it as a sealing lid anymore. You can still use it for other things, you just can't use it as a canning lid.

I relate to the walking quietly one. My dad got really annoyed at how "loud" I was walking through the house one day (I wasn't walking that loudly, but according to him I was fucking stomping around). He had a temper and ended up snapping at me about it, so I started basically sneaking around the house. I eventually got so good at it that walking quietly was a natural thing and I would sneak up on my friends a lot by accident. Now the real problem is, I'm 6 feet tall and pretty large, so I can tell people actually get freaked out a bit by this large man just appearing out of nowhere and I've started intentionally walking loudly if I'm around people (especially strangers) and don't want to scare them.

My emotions seem to work like a gas tank. They can only go so far before they stop working, i.e., run out of gas. I remember being at a relative's funeral, wondering how badly I'd be crying and spent a lot of time at the service crying. But at the cemetery where the actual burial took place, my eyes were dry and itchy. I guess I literally did use up all my tears. I have no idea why this affects me but at least it doesn't have any bad impact on my health.

The same reason you remembered how to use a fork without realizing it but not how to learn to juggle. Basically focusing too much on something can ultimately make you forget it in the long term or not understanding it at all. Also remembering has a lot to do with preconceived views. Like if I say I accidentally microwaved my phone you would remember that because you already understand what a microwave does and that putting your phone in it is stupid but if I said something like the standard model of physics is quite elegant but incomplete you may not remember it because you dont have an interest in physics or have a lack of understanding with it. Either way it was your preconceived views that allowed or prohibited you from remembering. Sorry if this was a hypothetical question lol

I have several of these -Walking unnaturally fast -Walking almost completely silently -Reading people scarily accurate if I can see in person or over a video chat. -picking locks -knowing how to use several weapons that people love (swords, staffs, three section staffs.) this isn’t so much everyday thing but when I was younger we’d play swords and I’d actually know how and demolish people. -speed reading, I casually read over 700 wpm and reading quickly if I’m trying to get something done I can read over 1000, I retain almost perfect comprehension as well. -memorizing chemical formulas and how to make them, this is of all kinds from something harmless to something that could level buildings. -being unnaturally strong, this is a generic condition I have which leads to decreased fat and increased muscle size and strength and general muscle however I still look relatively slender so when somebody sees a 160 5’11” Asian guy bench 400 pounds it scares them or makes them think I’m doing roids. Anyway I’be said enough even though I have more.

the line between being awake and asleep is very blurred for me. often times i may be physically awake but completely unconscious. but what bothers people is the inverse of this; i'm typically semi to fully aware of my surroundings when sleeping. i can tell myself to wake up after a certain amount of time and then automatically do so, no alarms or anything. i usually hear conversations while i'm asleep and my parents get really confused when they tell me about something they discussed while i was asleep and i already know about it. i also tend to wake up immediately if anyone approaches me or even looks at me for longer than a quick glance. another one is i pick up the smallest details in things almost right away. i can be watching a show and predict half the plot based off of something in the background or a short, seemingly insignificant interaction between characters. i can tell exactly how most people feel through their voice, i remember what different little cues mean for different people (ex. not everyone uses the same emoji or phrase to mean the same thing), and in general i'm just good at observing people and learning how they function.

I'm not smart. But I do like learning countries and some cultures. Whenever a friend mention a culture and their people in a well-known country (for me atleast), I'm holding myself so hard to not spill out that they are wrong so I don't get claim as a "nerd/smartass". In the end, I only said "oh. Really? Huh." Most of the times or just complete silent. I read a lot of books on psychology as a kid and I got so used to this new knowledge I was basically a superhuman, who had a photographic memory, could persuade people, make people hallucinate, could tell what people were thinking, feeling, and about to say as well as almost perfectly predict the outcomes of situations. I've always done this but in my early 20s I worked as an operator in a call centre for emergency medical services. Ever since then I just tell people I was trained to be calm in stressful situations. That's been rather helpful to get people to stop seeing me as cold. Even though it's not true at all, I was like that as a teenager lol. In fact when I first started working as an operator, I was praised by management for my ability to stay calm lol.

A funny story was when I was with my cousin on the road (she was driving) and a giant truck almost mowed us down as they were speeding along the road, not caring about the traffic light. She went pale, and her whole body was shaking. She stepped so hard on the brake she almost broke it. Thing is, after a few seconds, I hear this extremely loud shout "WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU!?" She was asking me how I had remained unfazed by what just happened. I simply answered "worst case scenario we would've died, so it's not that big of a deal". I felt bad for a while because my sarcastic comment actually hurt her feelings. Another one was when some kid ran down the street from god knows where and she hit him. She, along with my aunt as well as my other, very young cousin, all started crying. So I was the one who went to check up on the kid, completely unaffected by what had just happened (they were totally fine). Sometimes I actually have to make a concious effort and fake being shaken by things to make me seem a bit more" normal", by acting surprised when someone tries to scare me, or start panicking when somerhing bad happens, or even try to look sad when someone's death is announced.

I've genuinely had to learn to make noise when I move around so as not to scare people too much. I still surprise them. Edit: The small details thing is a family skill. My mum, sister and I have had conversations about tiny things that happened years ago in places we've only visited once and can still describe completely. Edit 2: Quick reading is definitely also useful (again, family skill). Edit 3: Yeah, the random memorisation of things does weird people out, but has helped me win over customers before because to them it shows I pay attention to their vehicles.

My cousin is super observant and probably has super hearing and super night vision. Once he was pulled over at night by a cop (Russia) while he was driving around with his friends. He apparently noticed a civil car with 2 cops in, in their uniform hiding in a dark spot while he was passing them. When he was stopped a little ahead and the cop was done with his questioning, my cousin started to point out that the guys in the car with their uniform a little behind are visible, as to point out their flaw. He also pointed out something about their numberplates while being observant and the cop got creeped and asked where my cousin worked cuz he thought my cousin was some kinda special federal agent to be that observant. Idk how he is like that but he isn't any agent, in fact, he works with metal, making fences and gates and such since he is 13 orso. The thing in Russia is that the federal agents(fsb) use mundane jobs as coverup to not be caught, especially "construction" is the one most used. So when my cousin said he worked with metal he obviously didn't believe him and probably was even more concerned that he stopped the infamous fsb agents.

I relate to the walking quietly. In highschool, I kept scaring my friends because I'm quiet and would walk up behind them without them noticing. I ended up putting my keys and a bunch of key/phone charms on a lanyard to wear so people can hear me when I walk around. I never learned lockpicking but I learned about key bumping and while I guess technically it is the same thing it works a bit differently and if done correctly is so much faster. Had a friend call me saying he was locked out of his house and wanted to know if I knew any locksmiths and I said “no worries, I got you.” And then afterwards he was very uncomfortable knowing I knew how to do that.

I have this problem lol. I naturally know where all main nerves are in the body, I don't do doctor work or even take classes for any fighting or anything. I started clipping my keys to my belt loop just to make some kind of a noise signaling I’m in the area because too many times I’ve “appeared as if from nowhere” near my friends and I’ve made so little noise it didn’t even trigger their peripheral. Just “showed up”. Doesn’t also help that, if they’re in a convo, I wait until they’re finished (I don’t like interrupting) so I’ll be there for like 3-5 minutes, totally silent, then they turn and proceed to have multiple heart attacks. To answer the burning question, no, usually the other people in the convo don’t notice I’m around as well. Gotta admit, got some laughs out of it a few times~

Silent Walking and Being tall is a Bad/Epic combination. What helps/makes it worse is if you're a fast & quiet walker. Some part of people's brains just can't seem to wrap around how they can lose track of something so large and obvious, especially if it's moving quickly. Bruh I swear I can sometimes tell a person by the way they breath or cough/sneeze etc. For example, I was home alone and in the bathroom, and I heard someone come home, and I didn’t know who it was (it was either my mom or my brother), but as I heard them exhale, I could immediately tell that it was my brother.

I think in general it's easy to recognize peoples footsteps, voices, etc. but it's much harder when they are both related and in the same age group, on average. Me and my mother have the same voice - kids usually pick up vocal patterns from their parents.

From what I learned online, bleach, baking powder and club soda are amazingly effective at cleaning up stains on carpet, clothes, etc. And those Mr. Clean Magic Erasers are no joke. They really work. Of course, remember to take them seriously about that warning on the package that says "Test in a small inconspicuous area first!" No kidding. It can do damage if you're not careful with it.

I was on mushrooms in a nature park once. I overheard a guy and his wife arguing over the phone, and even though he was 4 to 5 meters away and he wasn't on speakerphone I heard everything his wife said in crystal clear detail. So I told him his wife is right, he could buy a map(which was what they were arguing about) at the shop down the street, and I pointed to it. The look of absolute awe he gave me ill never forget, and I was like "shit.. I'm still trippin', gotta get away from the muggles" 😂

I walk silently and freak out a lot of people and the reason why is because my house has very creaky floors and my baby sister is a very light sleeper so I naturally had to adjust to it so I wouldn't wake her up. Also, I can recognize your footsteps if I hang around you enough.
