I have an Enforcer and the Nitride finish was a big reason for picking it over the other options on the market. Excellent 1911 with a great finish. Sold all my other 1911's to get it and have no regrets.

I have a night Hawk Firehawk with a nitride finish and it is by far the most durable of any pistol I own. Looks like it’s constantly being oiled .

Is the blk/smoke Nitride finish the same one put on your Firehawk/Sandhawk guns? Is this the "msot durable" finish you offer? Can it be put on your GRP guns?

Well, the Fire Hawk comes standard with the black nitride while the Sand Hawk comes standard with FDE cerakote. The most durable finish we offer is DLC (diamond like carbon). One of the reasons people love the smoked nitride finish so much is that when your pistol shows wear, it just adds to the look of the pistol. And the GRP also comes standard with the black nitride, but can get the smoked nitride finish is desired. Most models were offer can get the black or smoked nitride finish.

I’m confused, I had my carry plus nitrided, because the frame was lightweight , I was under the impression that DLC was more durable?

Hi Donn. DLC is the most durable finish we offer. Nitride gives a truer black to the finish, whereas DLC can look a little bit cloudy. Nitride is a great finish if you want true black with a durable finish. If you want the most durable, it would be DLC.

Hello - I am ordering a government Bull - most of my 1911’s are bead blasted stainless however, are your nitride and DLC applied to stainless or carbon steel? Thanks!

DLC is definitely the most durable. The next best as far as scratch and corrosion resistance would likely be nitride. It's hard to rank them, because they each have benefits.

I train very hard with my 1911’s, my WC ULC was cerrakoted, and I scratched the hell out of it? My Nighthawk carry plus was nitrided, it’s ugly , but not one scratch after training against barricades? I would have gotten DLC, it’s much prettier ?

Yes it is! That's the smoked nitride finish, which comes standard on the Thunder Ranch Combat Special.
