raoul peck has always been elusive on the subject of palestine. he does not mention palestine in his enormous compendium, exterminate the brutes, except to talk about a specific case of suicide bombing. no mention of the nakba, settler colonialism, military occupation, and continuing ethnic cleansing. in this convo too, he chooses to focus on the holocaust and resistance coming from a tiny number of israelis, rather than centering palestinians. thank you to viet thanh nguyen for making palestinian resistance visible. PEP (progressive except palestine) is not just cowardly, it’s a stunning anachronism.
